Canadian Nurse BPEIN/NCLEX

Published

Hello everyone,

I'm Nurse from India and currently have my file open with CRNM (Manitoba Nursing Board).

I'm waiting for my BPIEN (Bridging Program for International Nurses) starts in August 2017

I want to give NCLEX in the meantime, my college will not give me ATT since I'had not completed my study (BPIEN).

They told me to go to US and give NCLEX exam, anyone knows how that works? do I need to register through some state board?

any idea... Thanks in advance.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

You need to register with a state, meet their requirements for someone who trained outside the US and only then once everything met will you get eligibility from the state to sit NCLEX. Average processing time for IEN is 4-6 months before eligibility is given

Thank, any idea which is the 'easy to go' state ?

To be honest there isn't except CA is really strict with IENS and you need a US SSN and NY does their own process with CGFNS and can take 6-12 months

Applicants did not require a SSN to apply to the Arizona, Michigan and Texas BONs in the past, you can check their websites to see if that is still the case.

I'm trying New York. Fingers crossed.

Did you complete the Manitoba clinical competence assessment?

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Be prepared the CVS assessment takes 6+ months. The process for processing a NY nursing license by examination as an IEN is generally 6-12+ months long

Yes I did. Currently waiting for Bridgeing 2.

Since you have experience with the Manitoba clinical competency assessment, would you be so kind as to recommend study material to a poster named 'chachi' ? They are preparing for the CCA and started a thread entitled 'for those who completed clinical competence in Manitoba'. https://allnurses.com/nurse-registration/for-those-who-1092987.html

I read the Saunder's book that's all. :)
