Does anyone know if a BSN recieved in Canada would allow me to also work as a BSN in the US? How does that work? I am looking into a BSN program in Canada, but I'm a US citizen.

You would still have to meet the requirments of the BON in your state and pass the NCLEX.
Are the requirements that different that it would be an issue getting a job in the US with a Canadian BSN? Is this commonly done, or is it generally not recommended to get your BSN out of the country as a US citizen?

I don't think it is commonly done. The problem would be getting accepted into a Canadian BSN program when you're a US citizen. I know I see ads on the site all the time for my RPN/LPN bridging course, but being Canadian I'm not eligable for the US schools. Your best bet might be to approach the CNO with the subject. They are very knowledgable on the subject. (cno.org)
If you are a US citizen and you plan on working in the US why would you come to Canada to go to nursing school?
