Both are major undertakings, especially with the DNP being mandated for CRNAs this year. You could do it but... Just thinking about that many years of school and debt makes my brain fuzzy

DNP is not mandated until 2025 for CRNAs and no set date for NPs that I'm aware of so that should not be an issue. I am unsure of the logistics of holding both licenses according to the BON, which may vary by state. With both programs running about 2-3 years, it might change before you complete both degrees, especially if you plan to gain experience as an NP prior to trying your hand at CRNA. It might be something to ask your BON.

You've gotten a few answers in the previous posts, but I just wanted to point out that the correct terminology is certified registered nurse anesthetist. An anesthesiologist has a medical degree.

We have several dual boarded NP/CRNAs that contribute here regularly.

BostonFNP, Im curious as to logistically how being dual boarded NP and CRNA works. Im applying for CRNA school now but have always had an interest in Acute Care NP as well.
