I visited Australia a few years ago and, in the back of my mind, I have ALWAYS toyed with the notion of working as a nurse there. Are there any REPUTABLE agencies that can help make this possible? Just curious! THANKS!
are you referring to white indiginous australians or black?all australians have choice.
choice on how to spend their money be it hard earned money or welfare money.
even our homeless can obtain a meal provided by charitable organisations. no person living in this country needs to starve from lack of food. hence my post regarding how in this country, our poor are better off than in some other countries whereby people starve to death because of poverty.
this is somewhat off-topic, but... there are no white indigenous australians!
people living in remote communities without access to social and financial services (indeed, some without health services and an appalling rate of infant mortality) do not have a choice.

Look up the meaning of the word; indigenous!
Wow, so defensive! This is not really the right forum to debate such issues.
I am quite aware of the meaning of the word "indigenous", and also quite aware that there were no caucasians present with the Aborigines 40000 years ago. Perhaps you could try dictionary.com.
Regarding the RFDS, your comments display your utter lack of insight into this issues, so I won't even begin to explain rural healthcare access issues.
Unless YOU were born and bred and lived and worked in outback Australia, don't even bother to debate with ME any issues related to healthcare or indiginous black and white Australians.
I suggest you be the one to really research just what the word; indiginous means.
This topic is now ended I will not further respond to any of your posts.
I wish you well.

indigenous
1646, from L.L. indigenus "born in a country, native," from L. indigena "a native," lit. "in-born person," from Old L. indu "in, within" (earlier endo) + gen-, root of gignere (perf. genui) "beget," from PIE *gen- "produce."
The above definition from dictionary.com says "born"...I believe Grace OZ has a point...It doesn't say that you have to count back thousands of years to be called indigenous.
:deadhorse
I think we could all find reference to give us the point we're trying to make.
eg. "The term "indigenous peoples" is used to denote particular peoples and groups around the world who, as well as being native to or associated with some given territory, meet certain other criteria (such as having reached a social and technological plateau thousands of years ago)".
As mentioned, this forum is not really the appropriate place to continue this discussion. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to carry on.
