I completed certification last week but havent received my card yet. what to do?

ok. this is actually a unit secretary/ cna postion im trying to go for. i just wanted to get RN advice. i didnt train at a facility. i received my training at a nursing home where i worked

Regardless where you took the training, you said it was BLS through AHA, BLS (basic life support) through AHA (American Heart Association) is CPR certification. That means at the nursing home, a certified BLS instructor (you said an EMT) through the American Heart Association held the certification course, which you passed. CPR courses are held at all types of places, it does not matter if the course took place at your work. You can say truthfully that you are CPR certified through AHA and are waiting to receive your card. The first time I re-certified my CPR it was at the nursing home That I worked at and it was taught by one of the staff nurses who was also a certified BLS instructor through AHA.

so that means i need to call the AHA chapter in my town and they would be able to look it up for me?

When did you take the class? If you get a call for an interview before receiving your card, why not ask the person on the phone before going through all that hassle? "I took BLS through my current employer on xxdate and have not received my card yet. Do you need me to get documentation that I took the course to bring for the interview or can I forward it to you when it comes in?"

Whenever I have renewed my CPR through an employer the actual card was given to them by the instructor and they gave it to me. ( like the cpr instructor just gave them everyones card that took the class together versus mailing them all separate).

I really do not think not having the card physically in your possession at the time of the interview will be a problem, they would need the card before you could start work more than likely. If it has been a few weeks since you took the class and you still haven't gotten the card I would let your employer know you have not gotten it.
