hi there:)
Im scheduled to have my Nclex Rn in 2 weeks. I'm getting all confused over how to remember all the names of the medication for the various body systems and diseases, adverse effects, interactions and so forth. Is there anyone that can give a tips of how to remember them, and which one's that are most important for the exam??? my mind is buzzing:confused: seriously, do I need to remember every medication there is? there must be a system or ???... ANY HELP WOULD BE DEEPLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!
Also Im from Europe where we use the metric system, im not familiar with the US system (Ibs, oz, ounce) which measurements are mostly used in the nursing setting in the US??

You need to relax and perhaps take a break. At two weeks out, you should be all but ready. Get your nerves under control and do a search on this site for one of the posts that lists the suffixes to learn for the major drug classifications. Good luck.

Many people post about getting unfamiliar meds on Nclex.I am one of them. For the many I had I only knew a few. At this point it may be best for you to learn classifications. Maybe try doing a couple of days answering pharmocology questions (75-100) along with your practice questions. Wishing u the best.
A big thanks to both of you:):) I'm not really nervous, I just wanted to know if there are any ways to remembering all the drugs and what the exam requires you to know. I will take both of your advice and look up on the forum for suffixes and memorize the major drug classifications:) THANK YOU!!!!
Glad to help.
There are so many drug classifications and wondered if anyone have any suggestions on a guide to all drug classifications?? :hdvwl:
I can't remember where but someone did post a reference for classifcations for most commonly used drugs. See if u can pull it up.Good luck.

what I did in order to familiarize myself with the medications is I read the med section of my nclex review book every night before I sleep. I did not memorize each medications one by one but I did took note of some hallmarks of most medications like for example before giving a beta blocker check the pulse and BP. also I try to associate some with their suffixes.
