Inquire with your state board. If so, then you have to inquire with your school. Some schools do mot sign off on the paperwork for their students. If you live in NY, the answer is no. NY stopped this in 2007.

A couple of things are wrong in this post. In Canada, governing bodies for nurses are called Colleges. As far as I know, NY is not a province.
The CPNRE is only written at specific dates and is not a cheap exam. Most hospitals have employment programmes for BScN students to work during the summer. UNE, ENS, ACW are all titles I've seen utilized. Check with the hospitals that you are doing your clinical placements in. Unit managers are usually pretty quick to let students that perform well know of the programme application process.
The universities also have info available on the various programmes.
Guys, thanks to the info...I greatly appreciate it!!!
I have to think about it again. I would like to go for RN, but 4 years and money
things. I am afraid of fail.......

You need to figure out which level of nurse you wish to be. The designation isn't a consolation prize for BScN students who run out of money or fail a course.

In Ontario in order to write the PN exam you must have completed a PN program.

Loriangel14 is right. You have to do the PN classes in order to write the exam.
