  1. Is there any tutoring available through your school for it? Or can you start up a study group? I am sure there ar elots of people in your position. Don't be too hard on yourself, if you managed to get through everything and pass, then I am sure you can pass the entrance exam, with some studying. Good luck!
  2. You can carry the influenza virus for weeks, with no symptoms. You can also pass it along to all your immunocompromised clients. YOUR body might be healthy, and able to fight it off, but others are not. In my school, you can refuse the shot, you do have that right, but you have to sign a waiver. If there is a flu outbreak at the facility where your clinical is, then you are not allowed to attend clinical until the outbreak is over. Thats a lot of clinical days to miss. Personally, I get the shot every year.
  3. I assume BC has Community Living associations? When I finished my first year, I applied to my local community living association and got a job as a community support worker for a summer camp for special needs teens. (I am in Ontario). It was fun, and I got to practice a lot of my skills (toileting clients, brief changes, LEADERSHIP). I was also trained by them in Crisis Prevention and Intervention. (Nice on a resume). I would highly recommend something like that for a summer job. I suggest applying now to where ever you want to go, there is a lot of competition.
  4. I applied to the college, wrote the entrane exam, and was accepted. Maybe go over your math (fractions, ratio and proportion), and short essay writing. I actually hired a tutor for a few sessions to review high school math with me, lol. Its been a while... I'm in semester 4 now!
  5. Loriangel14 is right. You have to do the PN classes in order to write the exam.
  6. I am a practical nursing student, but I attend Seneca college. I have to say that its terrible. I have also heard this from students in the BScN. The practice lab is terrible. Equipment is old, and sometimes even broken. There isn't enough of it either. I have had to learn skills in groups of 5, sometimes 6 people, taking turns to practice. Sometimes you don't get a chance at all. I am really disappoointed with it. Also, parking is terrible, you will be lucky to get a spot, without having to wait until someone leaves, and the library is ridiculous. Its a hangout, as opposed to a place to study. Silence is not enforced. Good luck finding a place to study or a computer to work at. There are just too many students, and not enough resources.
