can i REGISTER for spring class if I am currently TAKING the prereq in the winter?!

Published

I am going to take Chemistry during the Winter session (Jan 7 - Feb 14th) at one college and I want to take Physiology at another college in the Spring (Feb 19 - Jun 12)...

the only problem is that if I wait until I am done with Chemistry/Winter to register then the Physiology/Spring class will be filled already...

Is there anyway I can talk to a counselor can get me around this situation?

It seems like if I am currently taking Chemistry at one college then I should be able to at least register for a class coming up...

The only way to find out for sure is to call and check with your school, they might want trascript copies, which may not be out until after class starts, or they maybe ok with a "work in progress" form filled out and signed by your instructor. However that all said, it's been my experience that as long as you have completed it by the start date your fine. I would call your school though and find out the facts.

I agree with the above post, the best way is to see your advisor.

Thank you both very much I appreciate your help...

If anyone has done this personally as well I would love to know...

You certainly should be able to. I did it. All I needed to do was take proof that I was currently taking the class to academic counseling (in person), and they did an override for me. It should work the same for you. Just schedule an appointment and find out what they require.

Good luck!

I'm Kinda In The Same Situation Now. I Am Switching Jobs So I Can Go To School Full Time. I Intended On Taking All My Classes On Tues And Thurs So I Can Take Off Mon And Wed (midnights)now The School I Am Transferring To Won't Let Me Register Until I Go Through A Transfer Orientation And I've Been Keeping A Ck Online And Some Of The Classes I Was Planning On Taking Are Full And Closed But I Was Told If You Have Special Circumstances Even If The Classes You Need Are Closed You Can Email Your Instructors And They Will Still Fit You In.

Good point about emailing the instructors. You just have to be careful relying on that, because some high demand classes such as Anatomy/Physiology have a limit on the # of students that can be in the class - and because they're high demand, they may already beyond full. Hope that makes sense.

You should be fine. Call an advisor and tell them you can provide proof that you are currently enrolled in the pre-req course. Chances are you will just need to provide proof you passed once the class ends. FGood luck.
