can a nursing student in ma work as a cna?

hey im new to this site but i love it! i read on here that a second termm nursing student can work as a cna... is this true??? how does that work? im hoping to start at bcc next fall n if i can work in the field sooner for experience thatd b awesome. but donttt u need a certificate for that???? im soo confused help! lol ty

They will ask for your transcripts and your school to verify to ensure you are in good standing with the school.

Yup! I worked for a year while in nursing school. Usually when you apply they will assume A) you are in nursing school B) you have your CNA certification, usually you are only doing Per Diem which tips them off as well.

Apply once you've taken your first nursing class. I don't think I qualified while taking my prereqs, but you never know.

In MA I think you need to have completed med-surg 1.

Thanks guys! I'm finishing my prereqs this semester n applying for next fall so ill be taking nur101 then.. there are clinicals for that class right? Have any of u ever been to the bcc nursing program? I'm tryna figure out where their clinicals r cuz I don't have a car n everywhere I look just tells me locations in s. Eastern ma n ri

If you have completed one semester of clinical, you do not need a certificate. If you have not yet started nursing school, a CNA program does not take very long and then you could begin working immediately after getting your certificate. That may be the faster option. I am not sure about ADN programs but I don't think you typically begin clinicals in the first semester.
