can I work for other agency while I have a contract with my sponsored company

Published

Hi,

I got my green card through a staffing company. However, they don't have any job openings for me at this moment because they said I don't have US experience. I already enter New York as a Permeant resident, but I have no jobs at all. I am burning my money here. I found some job offerings from other agencies. Can I work for them? I need to survive, my sponsored company does not care at all. They don't have jobs for me, what can I do?

If you have a green card you can work for anyone

I know I can work for anyone since I have green card.

But would my agency knows if I don't tell them?

If they have no work for you then I see nothing wrong with going else where. They broke their contract by not having work available for you when you landed

Thank you for all replies

I already got a job offer through another agency. Hopefully it all work out well. I was worried because the contract from my sponsered company showed not allow to work for other agency. Or they can sue me

You signed a contract with a no compete clause?

Your sponsoring country may care now if you just violated your contract regardless of the reason

An agency lured you with a green card and as soon as you arrived the agency immediately rescinded the job offer, in addition the contract has a no compete clause. If no alarm bells are going off about your situation, you need to wake up, because you must be sleep walking! Don't let denial lead you deeper into the situation, speak to a lawyer.

+1 as the agency has not provided what they said they would do and that is a job. They provided paperwork to the government saying you had a job therefore they haven't fulfilled their part of the contract
