Hi all,

I am am an RN working in Michigan at the moment. I am wondering what the job prospect is in California? Specifically the Atherton area? What are the area's that are hiring RNs right now? Do you think it would be good to contact the HR of hospitals to ask? I really really need to get a job in Atherton, or even a place close to it. Please let me know!

I am okay with even working in a clinic!! Although, I prefer mostly to work in a hospital.

Please help me out with some answers in order for me to get a better understanding!

Thank you

Looks like that's pretty close to San Francisco which is known to be a very tight market. Your prospects may depend on your specialty and level/years of experience, but I would expect fierce competition- even under the best of circumstances.

Atherton is a beautiful area. The cost of living is off the hook but you'll be in the middle of good schools and beautiful scenery. I used to work in that area until about 7 months ago and the best places to look for work are with Stanford Medical Center and the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF). The Caltrain is not too far so you could take it to work at one of the big hospitals in the San Francisco or San Jose also. Traffic is A HOT MESS out there so take that into consideration when you consider your daily commute. Good luck with your search!
