New grad unable to find job in Ontario
Wow! I'm a Canadian RN as well. I do know that the job market is very poor in Ontario. One thing to recommend is by networking. Use your preceptors/any nurses you know to help you get into a facility. Apply to the US of A as well. My advice is to really be persistent with applications, do not give up. You will get a job!!! Be determined! Also, try applying to LHSC- in London, Ontario. This hospital is huge and always hiring.

LTC to ICU job?
Hi everyone, I am a Canadian RN currently working in LTC. I graduated in 2014 June and have been working for about 6 months. I hate my LTC job, I think its incredibly boring, and I'm really not learning much. Due to my future career plans, I really need to get an acute care position. Does anyone know how I can make this transition possible? I know that LTC may not seem like the savviest work experience for acute care hiring managers but I plan to display my motivation and passion for acute care to them through my cover letter. I also plan to get my ACLS and PALS done. Can anyone please recommend what else I can possibly do to benefit me getting a job in an acute care setting? Please help. I am determined to find a job in acute care, and I will not rest until I DO!!!!

RN with an MPH job?
Hi all, I am wondering if any of you have a Masters in Public Health with an RN title? I am considering doing this, but I want to have an idea of what the job opportunities are before I invest all that money and time? What is the job prospect? Is it similar to nursing with lots of jobs or limited jobs? Does the job opportunity depend on specific things like experience? Are there lots of jobs in California in this field? Please help me out! Thanks.

Can I get a job in California ?
Hi all, I am am an RN working in Michigan at the moment. I am wondering what the job prospect is in California? Specifically the Atherton area? What are the area's that are hiring RNs right now? Do you think it would be good to contact the HR of hospitals to ask? I really really need to get a job in Atherton, or even a place close to it. Please let me know! I am okay with even working in a clinic!! Although, I prefer mostly to work in a hospital. Please help me out with some answers in order for me to get a better understanding! Thank you

California Board of Nursing Seems Impossible!!
Hi there, I am a Canadian RN working in long term care. I am looking to transition out to California, USA but the process seems so complicated/long. I haven't written the NCLEX yet, but I realize I need to apply to the California Board of Nursing first to even get my exam registered. My questions are: 1) How do I apply without a US SSN? 2) Someone told me that they require a minimum of 135 clinical hours in the undergraduate program in different specialties to quality for the board's license. However, when I looked on the website, I didn't see anything about this there. 3) Someone actually told me it will be impossible to register with California, and they do not let foreign nurses in easily. Can someone please help me! I am so lost and confused. Every time I call the Cali BON they don't answer, and do not even put me on hold.

RN Long Term Care Facility Interview
Hi everyone, I have some questions I was wondering if anyone can help answer. 1. What is the difference between a long term care facility and a nursing home? 2. What are the main illnesses that residents in a long term care facility have? What is the main nursing care that will be provided? 3. What is the main duty of the Registered Nurse in a LTC facility in comparison to a hospital? And lastly, 4. What type of interview questions specific to long term care facilities can be expected?

RN Job Market in Ontario Sucks.
Hi everyone, I am a new grad, a brand new Registered Nurse, looking to get some experience in any RN job. I live in Ontario, and I've applied to soo many jobs but hearing nothing back. I'm thinking of just writing the NCLEX so I can apply to the USA! It's not fair, we work so hard for 4 years, even harder to write that licensing exam, all for what!? To not get a job. Has anyone else had this same experience? What should I do?

Failed CRNE, now doing NCLEX-RN
You'll have to register through a state board. I registered through Minnesota, go to https://www.ncsbn.org/index.htm for information. It will give you all the steps. Good luck, you will get it :)

Failed CRNE, now doing NCLEX-RN
My heart goes out to you. I bought Kaplan, Lacharity, Saunders, and a med book to study. I also will be buying the Kaplan question bank. Are you planning on re-taking the CRNE again? I'm not retaking it because I don't know how to study better. Studying for that exam was useless, didn't help at all.

Is the NCLEX more medical-surgical based? My weakest area is medical-surgical content.

Failed CRNE, now doing NCLEX-RN
Hi everyone. I am so sad with my life right now because I found out this week that I failed the CRNE. I studied really hard for it, and failed it by 4 points. Pass is 550 and I got 546. The only problem now is that I really don't know how to study any differently if I were to take it again. Instead, I decided to have a go at the NCLEX because I already registered and paid for it. I am wondering what your guys' tips are to study and whether anyone has any sample study schedules that they wouldnt mind sharing with me? Also, have any of you failed the CRNE but passed the NCLEX?
