i think you just pay through the college network. you should be able to make payments though. you do realize that this is a publishing company and you may want to look into going directly through ec? it will save you alot of money to go directly through ec. you can purchase cn materials elsewhere (ebay etc.). this has been my own experience. good luck! :)

I am considering going through College network because I think you pay all upfront. But it gets confusing. If I go through college network and get the loan, do i still have to pay Excelsior all the money that they require? Please help me I would like to get my RN as soon as possible. Getting into another traditional college is not an aption for me right now.

College Network figures in all of the EC fees involved with respect to your loan payments.

However, you really need to look into all of the fees that will be tacked on by College Network by the time it's all said and done.

Without a doubt, you will end up paying a lot more for your education by going through a publishing company.

If anything, you might be better off by trying to get your own loan via a bank or credit union to cover your expenses.

Even doing it the way I did (charging on visa and mastercard) is often less costly than publishing companies.

Do your research and really look at all of your total fees and expenses before signing that contract.

There is also something else . I am looking into the payment plan that EC offers. I'm not exactly sure on how it goes but I know there is one. Please research the college network before signing. I made a big mistake and signed and it was going to cost me $150/month for many years. If I decide to go with EC I am using some of my income tax. You can save lots of money by using used guides from e-bay and getting the content guides from EC.

I want to thank all of you for your advise. I feel that I will not use a publishing company. I am looking into a personal loan from my bank instead. I do wonder will EC credits transfer to a traditional college for BSN?

I can only answer for the schools that have accepted me and I can tell you that both the Univ. of Oklahoma and Univ. of Texas systems nursing schools accept Excelsior ADN grads into their BSN and MSN programs.

But I've never heard of a school that doesn't accept it either.

I know that most all the universities here in ARkansas take EC graduates. The Univ of Arkansas Medical/Science College takes EC BSN for their Masters programs. One of the nursing instructors at our local community college is an EC grad.

The last time I looked the CPNE was something like $1700... :eek: ,so its a relief to know that they do take some mercy and let you pay that bad boy out!!!!!

I went through EC directly and I think when all said and done paid about $6000 including 3 pre-reqs, nursing concepts, CPNE, books, and travel to the CPNE. The CPNE is now $1725 plus travel and they do let you make payments but you have to have the final payment in one month prior to the test date. You cannot pay off the CPNE after the fact. Nor, can you take the CPNE unless you are paid in full. Still, not too bad a deal I say!
