Can FNP work in a hospital ER?

Published

I'm trying to learn more about where some advanced practice nurses can work as I decide which path to take down the road. Thanks!

Yes, in most states. There are a few that might give you problems. What state are in?

They do in Texas

They do in MS too. One of my friends is an NP in the ER.

I was asking because a friend thought the FNP couldn't. That you had to be an acute care one? This is all new to me so I'm trying to figure it out. Thanks for the responses.

ACNP can't see kids. They are more for critical care units such as ICU, ccu etc.

The FNP is the only NP that can solo cover an ER.
