can not find course that offers NCLEX-PN review

Published

Hello,

I am new on this site and would need some assistance to post a new topic. I am an RPN in Toronto who graduated last year and unfortunate to find an RPN job due to the volume of RPNs in this province. I am thinking of relocating in the U.S. since I have some relatives there to help and guide me. I am planning to take the NCLEX-PN exam and would want to know if there are available courses for me to avail. i have been searching on the internet and can not find one that offers NCLEX-PN review courses, there are NCLEX-RN courses available, not for PN's. Please help. Thank you so much.

What route are you looking at for the US? LPN will not meet TN requirements and same for immigration and work (H1b) RN is required qualification

Have you tried using any of the NCLEX-PN study guides that are available? If you are uncertain as to whether or not you will be able to work in the US, don't spend money on study books, borrow from them the public library.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply, I do have the Comprehensive NCLEX-PN Book by Saunders. I am a bit nervous about taking the exam without the enough preparation. It's been a year since I took the CPNRE exam here in Toronto and worried that the I might not be ready for it. Any suggestion or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would use a variety of study methods such as auditory, visual, tactile, using different methods helps to store the information and can prevent automatic mode and brain fatigue. Also, try to feel confident about the content of your education. The NCLEX PN questions are based on American PN programs which are typically one year in length, whereas Canadian PN programs are two years in length and the base knowledge should be more than adequate to pass the NCLEX PN.

Hurst does a review for PN...hurstreview.com

Hello,

Thank you very much for responding back and giving me some insights on this matter. I contacted Hurst and the rep informed me that there's no live in-class tutorials available here in Toronto. The only option I can avail of is the online review which according to her is the same as the live in-class review and just as effective. Has anyone here tried their review courses online? I believe it's a bit costly. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There won't be nclex pn in person reviews in Canada as it's not needed in Canada unlike the NCLEX-RN.

Do you already have work rights for the US? LPN is not eligible for TN visa or other work visas. Before you go through the time and expense make certain you will be eligible for a work visa through other means

Hi,

Can you please enlighten me when you mentioned that I can not obtain a TN (what does it stand for?sorry) How about if you have a working permit for instance? Does that give you an entitlement to work legally as an LPN in the US? I really do appreciate everyone's response and would like to thank all of you.

TN visa is a NAFTA visa that allows citizens of Mexico, US & Canada to work in countries if a qualified professional (RN qualifies LPN does not)

How are you going to qualify to work in the US? LPN does not meet the qualifications for any of the temporary or permanent work visas.

A family member's spouse had no credential that qualified for a work visa. She had to wait to qualify for a visa by marriage to work in the US. It wasn't easy

Aside from the first sentence (there is no more than a US nursing shortage than there is a Canadian nursing shortage. In fact many traditional LPN jobs are now filled by RNs seeking work.) this gives you an idea:
