Can only apply for 1 school?!?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am so annoyed. I went and took my NET on Saturday and about crapped my pants when there were 100 people there taking the same test! They offer it 5 times for the fall entrance, which doesn't give the best odds when they only take 40 in the class. I started making some calls today to see if I could get my scores sent to other possible schools, and they told me no! I am scheduled to take the March 5th NET (they take the highest not the most recent....even if I can get it up 1 or 2 points, it helps.) and asked if I could send those results to a different school...NO! Can someone explain to me why not?!? I mean, there are about 15 different LPN locations in CT and if my scores are not high enough for the place closest to me, or I am not what the interviewers "like", who are they to say I can only apply to one program?!? I found out that everyone who passes gets called in for an interview, so I really wonder how much of it actually depends on the scores at that point?!?

I am just full of questions today! lol I was just hoping someone could shed some light on the "1 school" thing.

I'm sorry but I can't help. We had to take the ACT to petition for nursing school, I've never taken the NET.

Good luck to you, though.

Every school does it differently, but if they made their decisions soley on the NET (or any test like it) they wouldn't have a good mixture of students in their class. Most programs take a lot of stuff into consideration, such as previous work experience, previous education, community involvement, etc....They'll also factor in the interview portion too.

Good luck!!!

We have to take the NET, and have to pass with at least 50% for both parts.

Like others have said, each college does it different. The cc I am going to, obviously, does not base the acceptance on the score. It depends on GPA, but they want to know that you can at least read, and do basic math.

As for not sending scores to other schools, I'm sure it's a money thing. They want that fee. :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents:

I understand the money thing, but if I am paying to take another test, shouldn't I be allowed to send the new scores to a separate school? That is what has me annoyed about it. I am jumping the gun here because I do not even know my scores of the last test, although I am 99.9% sure that I passed it. I just think if I am paying to take it again, wether it be to up my score, or just to be able to have the new scores sent to a different school, then I should be allowed to do so. Someone please tell me that I am not alone in thinking that this is a bit "off".

I'm not sure about the net but I regisrted for the NLN Pax Rn and was astounded and angered to find out that you have to pay an additinal $25 to send your scores to more than one school! They really have people over a barrel with these entrance exams. The test already cost $50 dollars! :angryfire And they wonder why there is a nursing shortage! Man I am a poor student and now I will have to spend about $125 to have my scores sent to 4 schools!

I was also told by a school that it only accepts net taken at their school.

I made low passing scores on the entrance test ( Im not sure what test it was:doh: , but got an interview. When I got to that interview, I asssessed the panel and smoked that interview. So scores matter ,but look at all they consider And let me mention one more thing, I called today to set up my NET for LVN to RN school and I was taking it with many people. Come to find out most was for the LVN program. My point here is those students may be for different programs.... I wish you well:)

I had to take the NLN exam, but I know the way that worked was I had to pay and extra $10 for every additional school I wanted the results sent to. I wasn't sure where I was going to apply to, so I had it sent to every school within a 2 hour drive.

Is there any way you can get your results, and just send "unofficial" copies to any school you apply to? I know they'd eventually need official ones, but it seems so ridiculous that schools are proprietary about a national exam (I'm assuming it's a national exam!).

Sort of agree with the above post. I recieved the results of my NET and dont see any reason those could not be used to send to other schools. But agian make sure the school will accept them. Guess the thing about only accepting scores from tests they administer might be a money thing. Would be the only reason I could see for not accepting others. Just my thoughts.
