Hi! I'm going crazy in suspense waiting to hear if I am accepted or not. Is anyone else trying for the fall 2011 semester at Southwest Tennessee Community College? How are ya feeling? I'm sweating bullets! Need some buddies on here!
I have a quick question for those accepted to the nursing program @ STCC...
I was under the impression from the SW website and from reading some posts on here, that they accept students based on the admission index (AP I&II, Microbiology grades, gpa, nln score)...now two people are telling me you have to have a recommendation from a professor. Is this true? I know you have to submit an "essay" with the admissions application but I did not see anything about a letter of recommendation. Any comments would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I submitted an essay describing my reason and desire to enter the program, but we, at the time (fall 2011 applicants) were not required to submit a professor or any kind of recommendation. Your AP&Micro grades are the most important, as they have the most weight on the index scale...
Couple things about nursing school:******* will not teach you she will talk to you
***** is the best person in the world.....period
******* is a OB GOD
******** is for real!! dont mess with her
Dr. ****** just left for UT Masters program director----if you survived her you know what she was teaching-
Jones is a total hippy, which is so funny.
Did you just say that Dr. P left southwest to become the Director of the UT Master's program? I just want to make sure I read that correctly?
Hey Lisa. I was hoping someone else would post a reply b/c I have no clue how to answer.
First, I have no idea what would transfer. I'd call the school for that one.
Secondly, I'm not sure how how competitive your grades and gpa would be. I know that most people have A's with a few or no B's while I've also heard stories that people with lower grades have got in. I've also heard that the Spring class is more competitive than the fall class, but once again, this is all "hearsay."
I can't believe its almost time to start. Has anyone gotten their uniform yet? Wondering how long it takes to get them in. I've been away most of the summer but will be back on Monday. Have to do physical and drug t test Tuesday. Boy, am I pushing it. Sketcher makes an all white "uniform
Shoe" figure I'd ask @orientation. Time has gone by so fast, kind of dropped the bomb, I think. Lady called last week & asked if I was still planning on attending since they hadn't received anything on my yet. Also, my TBA clinical and D&S class is posted. I was hoping the drive from Eads to downtown would be 3 days a week but ends up Foundations on M/T Clinical W and D&S Thurs. Kinda sucks but oh well. Did notice they changed my foundations class from 12:30-2:30 to 9:50 -11:50,D&S is thurs 9:50-11:50. Anyone gotten their blue bag yet? Wondering how much $?

DO NOT buy books until class starts as they use old editions and what some say is required will actually even be used.
LISTEN to the lectures- cause that's what is tested on, do not spend alot of time reading and cramming-
Dosage Solutions is now a online course which is stupid and dangerous, and make wure you turn in the homework it counts 10% of grade and makes the difference between passing and failing!
I emailed ***** about concerns with uniform and she said buy whatever was fine with her as long as it had the patch correctly placed, so not sure about the lab coat and the student not being allowed to go to clinicals...... cause I attend know and I do not have the coat pants.....
