Calling in Sick

Hi there! I have a friend who is a new traveler. She had to have dental work done in the day & she had to work that night and she had an allergic reaction to the mess & is worried the hospital won't accept her sick note from the dentist. Bc if they call out it has to be a doctor's note. I've never called out so I don't know if a dentist note will work or not. Anybody been in this situation?

I have no experience ... however, a dentist is a doctor (of dental surgery) and your friend was/is under their care at the time the reaction occurred so I would imagine if the dentist is managing the reaction (i.e. she didn't have to go to the ER) it should suffice. If your friend is really worried maybe go to urgent care center to get a note from an MD?

No point in overreacting. Stuff happens. If the hospital doesn't accept it gracefully, further steps can be taken.

I never heard of a hospital wanting a sick note if you call in sick. I don't usually call in but as far as I know you can call in for anything. The travel agency might want her to make up the day and they will probably deduct the housing stipend or pay for the day(s) she missed. Tell her to relax, it will be ok.

I've called in sick during an assignment and I simply had to make up the shift during the pay period. As staff, I would need a doctor's note if I was out more than 3 consecutive shifts.
