Calling all Recent Grads

Published

I am writing because I have recently graduated and passed my NCLEX exam fairly easily although I expected it to be challenging. Now the big problem.

I cannot find a job anywhere. I am in Ontario and have applied all over and have yet to receive any interviews through the new graduate initiative program.

Is this common? Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

Have you applied to any jobs not aimed at new grads? The job market in general is pretty bleak right now. Be flexible and apply to everything. Good luck.

That is a scary stuff :(

it took me 7 months to get a job.and that job was something like sent from heaven. it's so hard ot find job these days even for experienced nurses.

Hi OP,

On NCLEX, did you encounter SI units (like mmol/l) or conventional units (like mg/dl) for lab values and blood glucose measurements? I heard McMaster students did not see any SI units for lab values. I need to know if I have to study the Americanized lab values. thanks a lot!

Nclex has both metric and imperial listed on the exam

The NCLEX-RN items currently include both metric and imperial measurement options. Over the next two years, our transition process and the review by Canadian experts will ensure the appropriateness of terms used in the exam for both Canadian and American candidates, and that all writers of the NCLEX-RN in 2015 will be assessed based only on nursing competence, not his or her place of origin.

Congrats on passing the NCLEX I still have to write mine next month I'm a new graduate as well but out of all of my friends only one got an offer but it was because she did her placement there.

Have you considered to relocate? I graduated last year and found a job through HFO so I moved from Toronto to Ottawa.
