I am a pre-nursing student at WKCTCS (Paducah) and noticed the KY forum seems overrun with people in Lexington-Louisville area. If you are a current or former student at the college or just a Paducah nurse in general give a shout out. We newbs need some good resources and some insider info on the local nursing scene.
I am a 32 year old male starting my nursing classes either spring or fall 2010 (may need the prereqs from fall to bankrupt a 10-year old B.A. GPA to get accepted). I am interested in ICU at either local hospital and eventually getting my CRNA.
That's true. I was in the same boat last semester. I actually applied then 2 days before the deadline (for this fall) I called and dropped my application on the advice of my Advisor. Not only did I have 5 classes left to take, but like i said on another post, my GPA wouldn't have counted (didn't have 12 non-developmental hours) so it was just better to wait a semester.
wife told me over the phone may have misunderstood her. i got 56 points though. i am probably much better off waiting till fall since i can take 5 or 6 additional classes in the spring and summer, leaving only a handful other than the nursing classes!
I totally agree!! I tell you, I wouldn't have done it any other way.
I just got a raise. they said It was based on 6 months worth of earnings, but I only have 3 months worth of check stubs so I'm not sure what to do! The lady I talked to seemed really nice though, said that right now they are trying to get the Fall students done. But she never told me I couldn't apply, just that it would be better to wait until October. I'm probably going to wait so I can get together all the check stubs!
Hello! I work at Lourdes in the ICU. Nice to see all of you applying and workign for your ADN. Good luck to those of you in the applying process, and hang in there to those that are currently in nursing school. It will all be worth it in the end. I hope to see you all when you make your rounds through the ICU and hopefully come work with us, I cant be missed, I am the only guy on day shift.
ICU is def a fun place but very stressful too to work. glad to see you all come through one day. Only advice I like to tell people is find someone that has been a nurse for years and use them as a crutch when your having a bad day and just need to run something by them. I was fortunate and had an aunt and grandmother to call during those crappy times in school. They always seemed to find a way to talk me through whatever it was.
