calling all mothers!!! please help. i have two year old twins who attend day care. one of my daughters came home with scratches on her face and neck. i asked and no one at the day care saw what happened!!!! when i asked her who scratched her she told me.
(ok, i was very angry but because no one saw what happened water under the bridge please make sure you watch them more carefully!!!)
this morning when i dropped them off one of my daughters was crying on the floor (lol, i know, they were at home with me until this january so they are still fussy in the mornings) the same little boy kicked my daughter.
the child that did it has behavior problems and he needs to be suspended. at this point i'm going to talk to the director, and if she does not do something about this child i am pulling my daughters out.
hopefully i will start my nursing program in august. i want the piece of mind knowing that my children are safe from everything, i just want to send my girls to daycare without worrying about them being hit and scratched by the other kids
my question to you is where does your child go to day care???? do you like the daycare? do you feel like your child is learning something??
thank you. oh and i am in the s arlington, mansfield area.

I know it is more expensive, but I have always used a nanny. gonannies.com is a place that I have found 2 good nannies. I have always paid $10 per hour. It saves you having to get the kids up and out in the morning and they get to be home with each other and a nanny all day. I have always felt it was money well spent, consider it. :-) Good luck! :)

I worked in a daycare center before I started nursing school. It was said to be the best in the area and very expensive. I would never put my child there because it was truly a nightmare. It had the most beautiful toys and playground money could buy but it also had the worst trained teachers I could have ever imagined. I saw things (and reported them) that were horrible. Nothing was done and I left. When my son was younger I had family and for a short time I used a home daycare. He loved it. I would be very concerned if my child came home with scratches that nobody could explain because that seems to point to too many children and not enough attention. It is not going to help them like it that is for sure. What a nightmare!
Thank you, to both of the posters. I will look into the nanny, but I would love to find an old woman with tons of patience. LOL

I would check into your local church daycares as well. I am not saying that because it is a "church daycare" that it is perfect but in my experience the church daycares do a very good job. Most church daycares are open to the public and many of them offer "extended" hours now.

Although nannies would be great, how about finding a home daycare near your community?! I used them when my kids were small-they are 24 and 16 now!!! But I was fortunate enough to find daycares consisting of 5-6 kids max. They were around other kids for socialization, if they were sick or feverish I didn't have to miss work and they were clean, fed and happy when I picked them up in the evening. And I did educational things with them to supplement what they learned at daycare.(Great for bonding and relieving the "guilt" of being away from them.)They were also inexpensive but that was also years ago, Thank God!!:anpom:

Have you tried KidsPark? It's a drop in daycare so it's an hourly fee. I've used them sporatically for the last year when I'm in a bind because I don't need regular child care and my daughter lights up when she gets there. There was one incident when she fell and got kind of a rug burn on her forehead, when I arrived to pick her up they had a full report sheet on the incident for me to review. I have been very pleased with them.
