Just wanted to know how many of us on here are Military Spouses! Where are you stationed at? How far are you into the program?

I only know of one other person in my area doing EC's program, and no military spouses (which i'm really surprised at, considering how much we move this progrom is a good choice for us to get our education!)

Anyway,

We are currently stationed at Ft. Knox, Ky HOPEFULLY until 2012 giving me plenty of time to finish, take NCLEX and work before he gets PCS'd to another state. I'm sort of worried that I won't have enough hours worked before we PCS and hope that it will be to a state accepted as well. I'm pretty sure we wont get CA due to my husband's job, and would most likely get NC, GA, LA, TN or NY so i'm thinking i'll be okay!

I am a military spouse as well, USMC to be specific - just about to take the Health & Safety exam on the 18th (though I may bump it up a week... I honestly haven't studied at all since we just moved into/bought our house!).

Sometimes I worry about the transferrability of EC but then I look at my other options out here and with a mortgage I can't really afford to quit my job to do a traditional program. So I am hoping to get this done ASAP and get my RN so I can at least get some experience in before we need to move again - we just moved to Beaufort, SC about 7 months ago so we still have another 3 years. I was worried about going back to CA as well but since my husband is a DI, we will hopefully get our choice of relocations and we are hoping to move to NC where I *hope* to be able to finish up my Masters. We will see though... I have all of these high aspirations but no time to really do much of what I plan!!

I feel your pain in having aspirations, yet no time to fulfill them! It's very challenging as a military spouse, our lives have to revolve around their career. i've never had difficulty in finding a job whereever we have been stationed at, but i too worry a bit about the different states requirements with EC. I know one saving grace is that i can always work at a military treatment facility with any state's license! =)

Hi,

I too am a military spouse (USCG). I am in Boston. I finished my last exam almost 2weeks ago and am waiting for my FCCA package. My CPNE application is on hold until tomorrow, because EC did not accept my CPR card. I have to take a new class tomorrow. It has taken me about 1.5 years to get to this point. Best of luck to you ladies.

What was wrong with your CPR? I usually do the American Heart BLS for healthcare providers, that's good for 2yrs. I have to recert next april though so if i need to so anything i want it done so there is no hold up at that time! =) Good luck with the FCCA and CPNE!

Hey there!

Im a military wife too, my husband is in the Navy. We just moved from Whidbey Island, WA to Fort Worth, TX. I just started the program, I am taking Health Safety on June 22nd! Im excited and nervous all at the same time. I graduated from lvn school in August 2008. Good luck to all of you !! :)

I renewed my CPR online through the American Health Academy and they would not accept it. I should have looked into it first. I retook it again this weekend with the American Heart Association, so I am good now.

oh okay, just wanted to make sure! I thought American Heart had an online renewal too?

good luck to everyone on their exams...i'm still plugging away at A&P!

I think they do have an online renewal, but if I remember correctly you have to go the AHA location and perform the hands on part of it to get your card.

Yep ... there online instruction, but there is always a hands-on portion to complete the renewal.

So how is everyone doing on their exams? I pushed A&P back 30 days to July 30th now, i'm really not getting all this stuff and want more time. I haven't even taken the second AP practice exam either...sigh...just bought my NCLEX book i'll see if that helps some too! HUGS!

I have H&S scheduled for 7/10, which was post-poned from late June because I hadn't studied and still haven't studied much for it. Trying to get myself motivated!

I'm so torn right now between EC and going to ISU. I am worried because I am a new nurse (graduated 5/09 and have about 6 mo working experience) and missing out on clinicals. That and man do I just not have time to study between work, the boys, new house, hubby..... something is gonna have to give!! I am also worried about transferrability and not getting hired. I get some nasty looks out here when I mentioned EC though the schools out here aren't much to brag about! I'll figure it out eventually though, hopefully before I have invested too much money!
