Calling all Military Spouses doing EC's Nursing Degree

Published

Just wanted to know how many of us on here are Military Spouses! Where are you stationed at? How far are you into the program?

I only know of one other person in my area doing EC's program, and no military spouses (which i'm really surprised at, considering how much we move this progrom is a good choice for us to get our education!)

Anyway,

We are currently stationed at Ft. Knox, Ky HOPEFULLY until 2012 giving me plenty of time to finish, take NCLEX and work before he gets PCS'd to another state. I'm sort of worried that I won't have enough hours worked before we PCS and hope that it will be to a state accepted as well. I'm pretty sure we wont get CA due to my husband's job, and would most likely get NC, GA, LA, TN or NY so i'm thinking i'll be okay!

where are you at? Most people here in KY just don't have a clue what EC is...lol...i try not to get too indepth, i just say is a distance learning program through a college in NY...pretty much cuts it down on things. Also when someone inquires about what i'm working on i just say oh it's a "class" for college vs trying to explain the whole examination based program! lol...i wish i would have done this fresh out of LPN school, it seems harder for me to understand this material now that it's been out of my head for so long (grad almost 4yrs ago)

EC was a better option for me, ISU has some states not listed as well so transferibility might still be a factor there too. I really just want the RN at this point and EC is better for me.

To help you stay on track, give yourself due dates, put a reminder on your calendar about what chpaters/secions need to be completed and when. It was sort of like giving myself a syllabus and i knew i wanted to do the end of chapter questions so i would assign myself certain sections/chapters to read in one week and do my "assignments" as well. A&P is kicking my butt, however, i think i have my studying down for that one, as it is differenct than doing H&S.

H&S to me was basic nursing/nursing process ect. notthing to complicated. the practice`exams helped me too.

Good luck!!!
