Did you get into either of those campuses. I personally attend Columbus. You just have to be careful which instructors you pick for your prerequisites. It is a very competitive program. Columbus Regional Hospital is the first Indiana magnet hospital, so nurses flock that direction. I made a 89.4 on my TEAS and have a 4.0 and didn't get in. I was missing ANP 102, 201, and Micro though. I am just now finishing the last one (ANP 201). I just transferred to Madison even though I am still taking classes at Columbus, because they have a program starting in the spring. If you have any specific questions, just let me know... I don't mind. Good luck with everything. I do have to say I like the Columbus campus and they are extremely helpful. Like all the campuses though, they are just swamped with applicants.
I am a student @ Ivy Tech Bloomington - trying to get into the ASN program for Fall 2007. They are changing the curriculum right now, so it makes it difficult to plan your gen eds and prereqs. Please let me know if you have any info on this program. I have to finish up some of my general courses and take the TEAS, but I will let you know how it works out.
You have to have A&P 102 taken before you can even apply. You do not have to have taken 201. I have talked to students who did get in that got B's in anatomy. Just depends on who else applies. This particular student was in my bio class over the summer. She had one more year to go to get her ASN degree. Said she had B's.
I am currently trying to get into the Ivy tech transitional class. Do you have to go to Columbus for any of your classes? I live in Bloomington, so that would allow me to continue to work. Thanks, Sandy
transitional (lpn to rn) or traditional? transitional at columbus is a breeze so far, mostly internet, don't know about the traditional program.
I am currently in the ASN program in Columbus, and graduate in December (39 days). I was told that there were 120 applicants for the 40 spots in Columbus. I also applied to Bloomington, where I was told that there were over 300 applicants for the 40 spots. I got into Columbus near the top of the list, but didn't even make the waiting list in Bloomington.
My experience with Columbus has not been what I would call "POSITIVE", and most of my classmates feel the same way. The teachers for the most part, have been good. The administration is terrible, and everything is very unorganized. The clinical experience has been okay, but not a lot of variety. You do your first semester on a med-surg floor, but don't really get to do much other than giving baths. The second semester, you get to do a little more, but still most of your time is spent giving baths, etc. You also get one semester doing OB/Peds, which is a nice change of pace. Then you spend one semester split between Advanced Med-Surg (Cardiac & ICU) and Mental Health.

Hello fellow hoosiers!!!
I realize I just posted a few days ago on this topic, and thank you to those who responded. I'm still hoping someone can give me some positive feedback on the ASN program for Columbus and/or Bloomington. I desperately need some advice and direction on which campus to choose. Any tidbits would be much appreciated!!:monkeydance: :monkeydance:
Thanks!!!
