Hey guys,

I dont see many Coppin State University threads around. I wanted to know the opinion of students currently enrolled in the program both old and new. I'm currently enrolled in the new program (class 2014) and a lot of my class is struggling due to changes made this year. Previous coppin students please tell us your opinions and experiences as a grad. I would love to hear the responses!!!!!

Hello Everyone,

You all are scaring me. I am thinking about applying to the nursing program at Coppin for Fall 2013. I am hearing mixed comments about the program and now I am totally confused. What is the difference between the old and new program? (if you don't mind me asking).

The old program is being phased out for a new program...the old program is a 5 year track where ur gen ed course are mixed in with ur nursing classes. The new program is shorter and u take all ur pre reqs before entry into the program...the class cycle is also different as u take all non clinical classes first and finish with clinical classes...don't be scared its a good program it's just a few kinks they need to work out

Very tru williams3929. There are some kinks and to darmor11, our class was kinda of a guinea pig trial and error test. If you look at coppins program currently, it has been changed again to incorporate gen eds with nursing courses. I am not sure of the length, but you can visit the website for more info. The program is still pretty good, and you learn a ton!!!

Thanks williams3929 & williams3929. I did notice changes in the program based on the information on-line. I appreciate your comments..

If half of the class is still failing then the new program isn't that much different from the old one. From med/surg and patho to the first semester of the senior year there's usually half of the class failing.

Why do you think half of the class is failing? Are the professors stretched to the limit and they need to hire more professors? It just sounds crazy to me.

It's a lot more than that darmor11...it is not an easy thing to take in so much info, adjust to a change in question styles w/ only a week to get it all in ... As far as the instructors the only problem is that they are split between the classes and aren't as available to sit down with as they usually are, u can usually catch them via email

That's something to think about.. Thanks...

Make sure that you log on to coppin.edu website and check for requirements. The biggest thing is to have good grades. In my class they accepted student as low as 2.6. Because the new class is smaller the requirement will be higher. I do know you need to pass teas.

Hello. I'm a little late in the game, but I wanted to know how long did it take to find out you were accepted into the program or were asked to take the entrance exam? I really want to get in I just applied and feel like pins and needle. My gpa is 2.97 and that's not including what I will get this spring semester. I thank you in advance.
