Hello allnurses,
I recieved a phone call today from Memorial Sloan-Kettering. The lady asked me basic questions and then preceded to telling me they were opening up new positions. She told me she was going to foward my resume to all the nurse managers/leaders in the hospital. If they were interested I would recieve a call shortly. I got very excited when I recieved the phonecall, but am I getting too ahead of myself?? Is this a good sign?? The anxiety is killing me!!! I really hope I'm being put on the road to landing my first job as an RN By the way, did anyone get the same phone call and got called for an interview shortly after???
Any input would be great!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks allnurses!!

Good luck!
MSK is one of the few NYC hospitals without financial worries IIRC. They are expanding rapidly with new patient care buildings planned for the Westchester area and parts of LI (again IIRC on the last one). Sloane-Kettering also purchased the former Cabrini Hospital building on the Eastside last year. They are going to turn it into an extension/patient care center as well.
All of the above plans not to mention the patient load at the main hospital probably means MSK has an increased need for nurses.

Thanks so much dogoodthengo! I'm guessing that's a good sign then??? I graduated in Dec 2010, took my boards more than once and finally passed this past august. That phone call brightened up my day after getting no response from every other hospital I've applied to. I'm sure they wouldnt be calling me if they werent interested. I'm hoping this is a good sign.

hey there Ibelieve4187, how did u apply? was it online or in-person? and if u dont mind me asking, did u get to interview?
Just to update on MSK's building plans.
Local NYC news media reported about a week or so ago MSK is still on a building/property aquisition binge but they have chosen property they own near East 64st (?) and York Avenue for their new state of the art outpatient OR/ACC. Residents of the surrounding buildings aren't happy (when are they ever?) as the new building will block views and shut some apartments off from light, but MSK says state and local mandates/zoning rules pretty much dictate floor plans.
IIRC the new building will have several ground floor outpatient OR's. Anyone interested can simply "Google' MSK and the information should come up.
MSK decided against using the former site of Cabrini Hospital as it was too far from the main campus in case something went wrong during an out patient proceedure and required a fast transfer.
