Call bells in my sleep

Published

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. When I worked at the hospital, not so long ago, overstressed, understaffed...you know the routine. Anyway, used to dream about work...never felt rested cause I was working all night or day in my sleep. Even woke up a few times to stumble out of bed and answer a call light. Hubby asking me what I was doing and I'd be confused and half asleep looking for the trouble. Relieved when I realized I was home and supposedly resting/sleeping.

My dreams have always been reflective of what was happening in my life, so the dreams where much of my decision to leave, knowing that it was just too much stress for me. Oh, and the bedcovers were a mess...must of been running codes in my sleep! Anyone else with similar experiences?

when l have a nightmare shift, l go home and scenes from the shift play over and over in my mind asleep and awake...for about 24 hrs...l hate that...l actually hear the voices and bells and whistles in my sleep...l wake up and try to shake it off, but it just comes back as l drift off...then during the day l find myself staring in space..like looking at a big screen tv and seeing it all again............LR

When I started 3-11 and many patients were sleeping when I left, I started waking up thinking I WAS IN A PATIENT'S BED!!! Thank god those dreams stopped but I swear my computer's fan sometimes makes a sound like the call bell.

That never happens to me, Buit I naver go to sleep for at least 4 hours after a shift. I work in the yard, I exercise first, I GOLF, Then I will sleep and I sleep very well.

Never let your feelings from work go to bed with you.

excercise or exorcise those feelings before you ever think of laying down

doo wah ditty

I have to say that anywhere there is high stress, there is the capacity of having nightmares relating to that stress. If the stress is severe enough anything that will stir memories of the stress will cause the person to experience many of the above descriptions. Lately, my stress has been getting out of control and starting last night I have been trying very hard to control it and basically relax. Life sucks when you are so tensed up that you forget who you are and what you need to do for your own good. See the thread I started a while back about Stress relievers. I do not remember where it is, but perhaps we all can get better control over our lives. What you think?
