California School Nurses - vaccination record question

California school nurses - how common is it to receive falsified vaccine records there or suspected ones? I know that religious exemptions for school are no longer allowed (right?)

I have 2 students who moved to my state from California and I suspect their vaccine records have been falsified. Upon enrollment, we received educational records from the Montessori school they both briefly attended before they moved here and both of the records are incomplete. The parents apparently "lost" the immunization booklet during the move. The doctor's office they supposedly went to before they moved would not send me anything, and told me the family needs to come IN PERSON to sign a release to get any records. For their part, they did insinuate that they had very little information on the students and I gather that they were never actually seen there. The practice listed on the incomplete records no longer exists and I suspect it was never a real practice or if it was, that it was possibly shut down?

I'm mainly just curious as to the likelihood of the records being fake and what kind of fight I'm facing - the family has been very hard to communicate with...

Hmm yeah the only exemptions that are allowed are medical, no religious or personal ones.

My districts gets many students from other countries who have different records or different vaccination schedules, and what we've done is do the catch up schedule that's on Shots for School I believe. They need to at least be conditional to enter the classroom.

Surprise Surprise - I got their religious exemptions this morning! Our state still allows them (for now).

Hmm I wonder if that influenced their decision to move. We've had parents get super angry about vaccination requirements, even with education about why it's so important for the health of their kid and public health, and threaten to leave the state. Few actually follow through.

I expect that the vaccine requirements for public school attendance will be eliminated in the near future.

I think that determination is state by state hence why some allow religious exemptions and some do not. Even which vaccines are required varies widely (I was surprised to see so many states require HepA). There would be a lot of red tape for the Great Pumpkin to cut through to change the laws around that. He could sign an executive order and threaten funding for schools, but our state takes very little from the feds and has already stated they would fill any gaps left by federal funding drying up in order to keep our schools in their current working order. Yes, it may still happen, but I don't think it will be a super fast process.

You make good points.  When the feds stop making recommendations for vaccination through ACIP (they are currently not meeting by order of the king) and stop subsidizing the common vaccines, or stop funding the VICP, vaccination rates will fall as cost to parents go up.  Add to that the marketing that will be employed to convince people that it's all OK. No need to worry about vaccination.

I do worry for people in states with less strict vaccine requirement. The CDC now is starting to study the link between vaccines and autism (which there is none) which will just fuel the antivax ideologies, and damage their own reputation. Some politicians are promoting measles parties, not understanding how measles works.

I certainly try my hardest to convince parents of kids who have IEPs to get all their vaccines but it's an uphill battle some days, and there's always other work to do.

My concern is not with the President, but with Bobby Kennedy. He is a notorious anti-vaxer, who is partially changing his stance to gain his position. This will become a disaster for us.

He has already influenced them to stop recommending COVID vaccination for children or pregnant women.  That's just the beginning.

Sigh, yes it is. The beginning of the end of common sense in health care. I saw an article on line where he took his grandchildren to swim in Rock Creek in Arlington, VA. It was in the article that swimming is forbidden there because of the high levels of bacteria in that water. He is an adult, able to make his own decisions stupid or not, but to put his grandchildren at risk? To me that doesn't give me warm fuzzies that this man knows what he is doing..

An epidemiologist who works for Emory in Atlanta whom I follow on instagram thinks that his denial is rooted in a non-belief in germ theory.... His actions are certainly consistent with that!
