California RN license after Indiana State University lvn to bsn

Nursing Students Indiana (ISU)

While I have seen that the ISU lvn to bsn is not being currently offered to those living in California, are graduates of the lvn to bsn program able to be licensed in California? I am considering completing the ISU online lvn to bsn program, but want to make sure I will be able to be licensed in California as I will likely move to and work there one day. Thanks

I am now really confused because I spoke with the director of the nursing dept for distance education today who specifically stated that are accepting applications from California students once you have completed the required general education prereq classes!

There are 3 phases to the program:

Phase 1 is completing your prereq's; Micro, Chem, English, A&P, College Algebra, Intro to Computers

Phase 2 is applying to the university as a degree seeking student, testing out of the four lower division nursing courses, taking the TEAS V exam.

Phase 3 is acceptance into the nursing program & starting the nursing portion of the program along with completing any add'l lower division general ed classes you might need.

The entire program is 3-5 years in length depending on how many classes you need to take to apply to the school. The first phase of the program can take up to 2 years to complete. So, with that being said, I do not see how you could be told that they are not taking any CA students when I am currently taking my phase one classes now for a Fall 2015 entry.

I am confused about this myself. I have spoken to 2 other CA students that are now in the program. I am going to call them again tomorrow and see what they tell me and I'll report back what I find out

ISU is saying we can't live in California to attend their program. Its confusing because some people are saying it changed but not according to ISU

Those who were previously enrolled and in progress with the nursing courses were permitted to complete recently after a special arrangement between CABRN, ISU & TCN. One condition of the agreement with CABRN was that no further CA residents be admitted to the program. Stick with the information given to you from ISU as it's the current truth. This all has to do with the concurrency of clinical and theory coursework, one of the major reasons CABRN will not accept graduates from Excelsior.
