Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA

U.S.A. California

I am interested to hear anyones experience in endorsing their license into CA. I used the online endorsement as well as the livescan fingerprinting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

cecilbee 1: That's correct. I've actually started my job but can't do what I need to do without my license so I'm kind of in limbo right now. I finally got through to a human (possibly a pod person [see "Bodysnatchers"] based on the attitude) who said they had not received my fingerprints. I used Livescan and, according to the BCII-they were transmitted to the BRN on Feb. 6th. Do you think there's any possibility someone at the BRN made a mistake? ( Read that question with a really sarcastic tone.) This is unbelievably tedious and I'm ready to move back to South Dakota (not really). SO ANNOYING! AARRRGGHHHH!!!

There was a town meeting and the BRN was there, one of my professors in school sat in. A lot of questions were asked towards the BRN in regards to delays with our own residents getting their documents processed and they were unable to provide an answer, from what I hear. It has been encouraged to write letters to CA congressmen etc cause it sucks that much.

I'm writing today. This really is insane.

Oh wow- finally got my finger print cards today and was checking to see how soo so I know where to put where it should be sent. My new California address starts May 15, so I will not even be close to getting it, it seems.

any updates?

My latest: I got through again to a different human and was told my background check was still not showing up even though DOJ said it was done. He reminded me that the BRN had 90 days from when they cash your check to issue the license before they even pretend they're excited about the time frame. He said I could just wait and see what happens or resubmit the Livescan all over again and see if that goes through faster. Why are all the options something the applicant should do when the applicant is not the cause of the problem?

I wrote a letter to my congressman and did get a response requesting I submit a formal complaint which I will be doing. I think everyone who is living in CA waiting for a license should do this. Maybe it will get someone's attention if enough of us do it. There really is no reasonable explanation for this software snafu to go on so long and complicate so many people's lives. Certainly a solution could have been found by now if it seemed important to the powers that be.

time2go, what's the number you called to get a human? I haven't heard anything yet and I used a cashier's check so I have no idea if it's been cashed or not. I suppose I should call to find something out.

I called the 916 contact number on the website. There is a maze of recordings at the end of which you either get disconnected or put on hold. I've had luck calling between 0800-0830.

Wow time2go, that is crazy! So basically it sounds like I should probably just do livescan when I'm out there in a couple of weeks, just to be on the safe side. I will call next week just to see if they know anything about my prints though. I really didn't think this process would go smoothly but I didn't think it'd be this bad either.

I went ahead and called, spoke to a fairly nice gentleman. He said that in my application the finger print section is still showing blank, but so are my license verification and transcripts. He said the reason for this is because the evaluators have stacks of applications on their desk and they aren't even looked at for the first few weeks after checks are cashed, and that they are done in the order they are received. I asked if it would be ok if I did livescan since I'd be out there visiting, just in case my finger print card is rejected and he said they don't advise that, because it's not often that the cards are rejected. I feel like I have to do it, because I'll be in a worse position by not doing it and say the cards end up rejected. Cards take 1-2 months while live scan takes 1-2 weeks! Uh....I think I'll take my chances at this point!! What do you all think?

YIKES. I was planning to call on Friday morning, and am scared of what they may tell me… It's just so hard to wait and have absolutely no idea what's happening. If I hear anything new and/or remotely helpful, I'll let you guys know!

cecilbee: At this point I have no clue what might or might not work. Certainly nothing I have done has made a license magically appear. In addition, I don't think much of anything you do could make things much worse so go with your gut. You might hit the magic button or get the golden ticket or something.

I just called the board of nursing and *apparently* they said i did not pay all my fees, which is odd, considering they cashed my check! They also didn't see my license verification since i did it via nursys… also strange since they recommend that. What a mess!!!! the girl i spoke to was really helpful, but i can't believe they have made so many errors on just one license! she said by calling i probably helped speed along the process, so i guess it was worth it, but wow. good to know that california BON is one giant mess over there!
