San Joaquin Delta College Fall 2013

U.S.A. California

I don't think there is a thread started yet. Who's applying?

@Shye - I took the teas test again and raised my score. I was really excited. It was the only way for me to get more points. I really hurt my score by taking 2 sciences the same semester while working 40 hours a week. I don't recommend it. I dont know what i was thinking :p I ended up with 2 Bs. My A in Anatomy saved me. To anyone just starting...set yourself up to get the best grades possible in your Sciences if at all possible. :)

Thanks:)

I never heard back from Sac City and haven't checked the site again. Have you heard anything about the Sutter Extended? I like that I could budget out the gas over the 16 months with the zero tuition versus paying several thousand up front.

I have 83.5 points.

I just submitted my application.

I just went to sac city's informational meeting and the Sutter extended campus is still not confirmed, but it is highly likely they will select one Sutter class :)

@Ashley -@shye listed everything almost exactly. Basically anything you got points for you need to submit supporting docs for. In addition they had us submit a copy of our drivers license and a copy of our social security card. My understanding is you will still need to submit transcripts to the nursing dept. even if you had them evaluated for admissions because in the packet it says everything must be in one envelope. I checked my old emails. They gave us exactly 2 weeks to submit our documents. After that it was about 30 day to get our acceptance or Alt#. I received a lot of the paperwork from them once I was an alternate, it was so exciting! At least this time I will have less to do... Shots are all done :). Still need CPR class.

Yes, you need to submit official (sealed) transcripts in your packet regardless of whether you've sent transcripts to Delta before.

@dir13 - congrats again on your little one.I was wondering if you ever checked into the price on the book bundle at SJDC?

@McCoy: Wow! That's a heckuva jump for the TEAS! good for you! :D I took Anatomy and Micro the same semester and got a C and a B, respectively... I wouldn't recommend it either haha

@CJR: I will keep my hopes up for Sutter! How was the info meeting? I think I'm going to go to the one on the 25th so that I can just turn in my paperwork that day!

@DLR: I hear you on budgeting - I've only managed to save $3k for nursing school and I don't plan on working! I'm considering cashing out my State Retirement contributions instead of rolling them over, but at age 30 I feel like that leaves me with "no net"...

It was really good. This is my second time applying so a lot of it was repeat info, but it was nice because I was able to show them the letter I was sent after I was not selected last semester and they confirmed that I did in fact make it into the lottery, just wasn't picked. Huge relief for me because I alway worry that I messed something up on the application or supporting docs packet!

So has it always been that "Need to Work" must be for ALL prerequisites for the Delta ADN?

Glad I caught this now because I have two other jobs to call!

@shye - your right. I checked the criteria from last semester and it didn't state "ALL". :)

I will be applying this semester for the first time and I am pretty nervous! I wish everyone good luck!

So what if some of my prereqs were from 2003? i WAS working while taking them but i doubt i could get check stubs from way back then? is there another way to prove it>? BTW thanks shye & mccoy for all the helpful info.

@ashley: I know, right! I had to call the HR dept. of the job I had in 2004... They are supposed to be sending me a verification of employment on letterhead.

I'm glad I figured it out before it was too late!
