Sacramento New Grad RNs.... Are You Having A Difficult Time Landing A Job?

I was just wondering....

california sucks

Umm no! California DOES NOT SUCK; it's just the market. Understanding that you're upset, but California is on the forefront of setting up strict nurse to patient ratios and setting the salaries higher for nurses in the future. California is paving the way for the rest of the nation as far as standards go. So, no, California does not suck:)

I know it's hard to do, but go somewhere where you can find a job and the market is so saturated. At least until you can get your experience under your belt and then you can come back.

unless you love taxes, high price of living, and a government who cant manage their money, california sucks :)

thats my opinion and I am entitled to it. I will stay here if there is a job here, but if not I have no problems going anywhere else.

It's not the nursing that is the problem. I know we are spoiled here. It's the state.

california sucks

Of course you are entitles to your opinion. However, according to your profile you have not worked as a Registered Nurse in this state or any other. That tells me that you don't know first hand how fortunate we are to practice in a state that has ratios for out protection as well as patient safety. If you don't think a couple extra patients make a big difference then you are wrong.

Believe me, I know that we have some bad politicians. So do many other states. Hawaii, New York and other places have high costs of living also. Do they suck solely on that basis? You can find some amazing places to live in California that do not have high cost of living and are just gorgeous.

I hope you find a job but maybe having one less California hater here isn't just a bad thing:spbox:OK I am getting off the box now:)

Actually my mom is an RN in california so I do know :)

People need to stop getting so angry through the internet. Why does it matter so much to you that I dont like california? I'd love to come back someday but right now Ca is not the best place for me. Sheesh. People seriously need to not get so angry about one comment. The one thing I dont like about allnurses is how people get so fussy over things on here and feel the need to pass their judgment.

I love california, but right now california sucks.

By the way this is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy off topic :banghead:

I am sorry to hear that you having a terrible time landing a job. I live in Michigan and Detroit Hospitals are hiring like crazy, they also have new grad programs the pay is good and the cost of living is not as high, plus they have tons of Overtime. If moving is not an issue i would seriously consider moving yes the economy is hurting but there are pockets of opportunity and healthcare is booming in the Detroit area even for LPNs

Sonora is only hiring new grads who externed with them. Tried already : )

Hey guys, its been couple of months after passing my NCLEX, still no luck with New Grad Program here in SAC. Anyone of you guys know any opening? I'm really desperate to find a job.

Thanks!

Yep, been trying for a couple of months now to land a permanent job. Thank God I was hired by a senior living facility that I've worked in and knew the DON...and thank God the part time nurse there found a job at UCD after applying there for a year (that's what she said) I need a more permanent job or another part timer...and I thought nurses are wanted...
