  1. I didn't even read the book because it is soooo long. I found it more helpful to take the Kaplan questions and make notes of stuff that I didn't know and look over those later!! It helped me to do it that way! I shut off at 75 and passed!! Kaplan is awesome, I felt that the questions were extremely similar to those on NCLEX. I got a lot of delegation, prioritization and a lot of those isolation questions (you know the ones where they ask which patient should be placed in a private room). Keep up the good work!! Good Luck!! You can do it!!!
  2. You are extremely fortunate to only have to wait a couple days. They do really mean business days! I'm from CA and I had to wait almost four weeks because they don't have quick results. IT was extremely painful!! Then I found out they were still waiting for my transcripts before they posted my results. Hang in there and let us know when you find out! Best of luck and don't stress out too much, you can't change the results now!! I felt like I failed miserably and I passed. :redbeatheKamie
  3. Your situation sounds a lot like mine!! I left for my 5 year anniversary the day after taking my NCLEX and I was a nervous Wreck!! I will tell you though that I took my NCLEX one week after the last day of my KAPLAN review. I passed my test with flying colors (shut off at 75 and passed). It was nice to be on vacation and know that I had finished the test, otherwise I would have felt like I needed to be studying while on vacation. The thing that stunk was I didn't know my results until almost four weeks later. The sooner you take the test, the better. I would just schedule the NCLEX now and you can always change the scheduling date to later if you don't feel prepared enough after Kaplan. I scored 55-60% on my NCLEX tests and had no problem passing boards with a shut off of 75. Hope that helps!! :redbeathe Kamie
  4. Honestly I would recommend taking Kaplan if at all possible. I felt that the questions from Kaplan were extremely similar to the NCLEX questions. The NCLEX books that I had (four of them) were not the same type of questions. I took Kaplan and shut off at 75 and passed. IT was well worth it!!
  5. My orientation is only 8 weeks and pretty intense I have heard. I am definitely up for the challenge, just a little nervous! Thanks for the book idea, i'll have to check it out!
  6. Hi I am a new graduate RN who is extremely nervous about starting my first job on the Medical-surgical/ telemetry overflow floor!! It has been 6 months since I graduated and I want to feel somewhat prepared. I was wondering if there were any books that anyone could recommend that I carry on the floor with me. Any that have come in especially handy for you?? Any tips from your guys new grad nurse experiences will help too. I realize that it will be tough, and I am a little scared but also extremely excited. Anything will help!! Thanks so much!!
  7. Sonora is only hiring new grads who externed with them. Tried already : )
  8. That is not true!! Kaplan told us that is one of the big rumors about the NCLEX. They said each person gets as many questions as they need until the computer decides to shut off. The reason you would get 265 questions is if you were treading the pass line throughout the whole test. You can either pass or fail if you take all 265 questions. You can go to the BRN website and it will tell you all about it so you know what to expect. Hope that helps!!
  9. CONGRATULATIONS! How long did it take you to find out and what state?? :nmbrn:
  10. Thanks!, Unfortunately California doesn't have the quick results! bummer!! : )
  11. You are not stupid. Yes, it is extremely rare that you would fail at 75 questions BUT, think about the test. You probably had anxiety and were not thinking as clearly as you would normally. I am glad you are taking Kaplan because I felt that the questions on the NCLEX were very similar to those on Kaplans Qbank. Kaplan is good because they don't go over content, they teach you strategies to answer the NCLEX questions correctly. I found out after taking Kaplan that the answers to NCLEX questions are not what you would always do when you are working on the unit! So I am sure you are extremely smart, if you passed nursing school you are definitely not stupid. Take Kaplan and I can almost guarantee you will pass next time!! YOu are smart and you ROCK!!!! Think that next time you go into the test, you would be suprised how much a little self confidence helps. P.S. What kind of questions were you getting mostly?? I took mine Friday and shut off at 75 and am still awaiting my results : ( You CAN do it!!!
  12. Okay why is everyone asking me that? Am I misinformed? We don't have quick results in California and the pamphlet they gave us said 2-4 weeks we would get our results? I even asked them too! My friend also asked them and they also said 2-4 weeks. Confused!! :) I am really dying to know. lol Thanks, Kamie
  13. Foreign trained?? I took school here (California), I actually haven't even been to another country in my life. Why did they tell me it takes 2-4 weeks for results? Is it supposed to be sooner? :uhoh21: Thanks so much, Kamie
  14. The best of luck to you. Usually you round one past the decimal, but I didn't even have any calculation questions and I took my NCLEX this morning. I thought that was a bit weird since I figured they would be a tad concerned with all the med errors. I was quite bummed considering the fact that I am great at Pharm calculations.
  15. Have you tried Kaplan?? There pass rate is fairly high. I am freaking out right now cause I just took the NCLEX this morning, but the questions were formatted extremely similar to those of Kaplan. I will let you know how much KAplan helped when I get my results! :)
