Hello!

Is there anyone who is going thru Pasadena City College (CA) RN program or recently graduated?

How is your experience with the school?

Also, I would like to know how helpful instructors are?

I'm an LVN just got admitted to PCC career ladder program.

Thanks!

I graduated December 2007 and my friend is planning to graduate next month. I am a big fan of their program. Both my friend & I were LVNs who went through the bridge program.

Contact me if you want more info.

hello all,

i am also a student who was recently accepted into the lvn career ladder program. i would like any information that you have to offer carol72. i have tons of questions so i hope you dont mind, i need everyone's :twocents: to help me ease the tension!!! lol

lbalboa, which instructor do you have for the thursday class?

To KarmaRene:

Hey girl! I'm going to be applying to Pasadena in May. Anyway I was wondering if you wanted to keep in touch and tell about how the program is working out for you. Sorry to make this such an announcement I dont know how to private message you.

Does anyone know how long the generic RN program is at Pasadena City College. I know it can be done in four semesters and they have nursing courses in all four semesters. Does this mean it's a year long?

Thanks!

No, it means that the program is TWO years long. The inter sessions don't count as full semester. Its 4 semesters 2 fall and 2 spring. I cud use the inter sessions to take GE classes if u haven't already. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Hello fellow RNs2be,

I was just accepted into the LVN to RN career ladder program at PCC beginning June 2010. I was wondering who else may have just been accepted into this program so we can begin to strategize for the next twelve months ahead, and start to form that cohort 'bonding' thing that is so classic and necessary to survive any intensive nursing program like this one.:jester:

LVNdudenPasadena,

Congrats!!! Im really excited for you. Maybe we can talk and keep in touch while you are taking the transition course. I was accepted back in January, but had to defer my acceptance until September. I completed the transition course already, so I wont be goin back until Fall, If there is space for me (crossing my fingers). Pray for the rest of us!!!

KarmaRene,

How was the transition course? Hard/easy/moderate? Was it all theory or was there any hands-on stuff? Any advice re: particular instructors to try to get if space permits?? Yes, lets stay in touch and continue the dialogue. I'll cross my fingers for you for the Fall!

I took the transition course with a lady I will say is Mrs. F There are only 2 teachers that teach it durings the intersession and both of them are really nice people. They try to give you alot of useful information because its the easy part of the program!! LoL. It wasnt hard, alot of stuff to read and remember for such a little book. LoL. Most of it is boring, but its mainly about conditioning your brain to think like the "RN" student, rather than the LVN. Its hard to break some of those old habits though.. LoL. When I took it this past January wintersession, there werent any hands on, but plenty of TALK to add the hands on in there. It was only once a week for 4 hours each day. Good luck to you!!!
