Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

One more thing about Asuza, they are not too picky about who they let in...

Im set to take the Biomedical statistics course next month. Any advice from those that have taken the class?

I don't think it matters where you get your BS from, even if you want to continue on to get an MS. It's all about the GPA and whether your program is accredited or not. In nursing, it's all about having an RN license and experience, so choose the program that works for you.

You are right, ExPharmaGirl! Nursing programs are severely impacted, and we are fortunate for being in one :)

I hope meeting you sometime during Nursing school!

Hello all! I recently applied to NU's program in May and am hoping that I will be accepted into the Jan 2011 cohort. I just took my TEAS and essay test on Friday and am nervously waiting for the results which will not be until mid-August. (Or at least that's what they are saying for now.)

I've spent the better part of the day reading this entire thread and I just wanted to say that there has been so much great information. It's so nice to see helpful and supportive people, rather than cutthroats that are secretly hoping you'll fail or not get a program.

Hi Rishle -

I, too, just took the TEAS on Friday for the Jan 2011 program. We were in the same room, and now here we are, Googling "TEAS, National University"...ha! :) Sooo glad that test is over! Now we just have to play the waiting game. Sure hope we get a chance to get into the program. Here's to checking our mailboxes daily (even though we know that we won't hear til August at the latest....). Hope to see you, and any of our other fellow applicants who are reading this, in January. Good luck, all!

I was wondering does anyone know the deadline to take the Biomedical Stats class for the Spring 2011 program?

If you're asking about the application period for April 2011 start, August 20 is the application deadline.

I don't know if it is too late to add the Bio Stats for this month, but according to the information I received you could still take it in August with National and be eligible to apply provided you have all of your other pre-requisites completed and transcripts from other schools evaluated. Good luck!

For General Information: When I went to the nursing information session (March or April of this year) it was stated that all pre-requisites must be completed and transcripts from other schools evaluated (mine took several weeks- so get them in ASAP if you haven't already and plan to apply!). The only exception to this requirement is if the applicant is completing their last pre-requisite with National and the course ends in the same month as the application deadline. The application should be submitted with a cover letter explaining this.

Hi Mike's Wife-

I talked to another gal who just did her testing yesterday and she says there were about 25-30 people testing yesterday. So hopefully, those essays will be scored sooner rather than later.

I was thinking though...Didn't we have about the same numbers for our testing? Also, didn't the proctor say that there were ~180 applicants? Can 120 of them already done the testing somewhere else or do you think there's another test date or that perhaps there were several previous dates?

Hello! There are always several dates. You only find out about the dates that are available after your app is processed. For my cohort they couldn't get all of the apps processed before the last teas date so they had to add dates. Also, don't expect your acceptance/denial early unless they chaned things in a big way. They are very slow with this process.

Good luck! Every cohort is different. My cohort was extremely competitive with scores and the one after wasn't as bad.

Hi Rishle,

Yes, they mentioned there were several other TEAS dates, too. I remember the proctor saying that ours was one of the very last dates to take the exam before they start the elimination process.

I know everyone says it takes forever to get your letter in the mail, but I hold my breath every time the mailman comes. I hope I don't run out of oxygen by the time it finally arrives, ha!

Hello, I have been planning on applying to NU and was wondering if I can get some advice/info. I live in WA state and have been planning on moving back to San Diego (I grew up in OC) apping to NU, and SDSU as a backup. I'm beginning to rethink my decision. I've glanced through much of this forum, but am left with a mixed opinion of NU. I have ran into many obstacles with them such as not returning e-mails, canceling information forums at the last minute with no notification, being told one thing by my admissions advisor and finding out it was wrong months later which almost made me loose the chance to app, etc. There isn't even any reliable documentation I've received, so I have to rely on what I am told.

What I am wondering is from the people who are/did attend, how is the quality of the program? Are the instructors good? Are the clinical sites/experiences good? Did many drop/fail the program? And, how spread out are the clinical sites?

If I move to San Diego NU may be my only option since the public schools seem to frown on transfer students (and I don't speak Spanish which is counted for entrance at some schools I found). On the other hand I've got a great GPA, WA state DTA (direct transfer agreements degree), and good test scores so I can have my choice of WA state schools, possibly even a partial scholarship. I really want to move back down to the sun, but am really not sure about NU, knowing how good the WA state schools, public and private are. Any input would be appreciated.
