Cypress college RN program

Hi just wanted to see if anyone has applied to the RN program at cypress. Maybe we can talk with each other as we sit and wait for a decision. I just applied Sept 1st and am turning in docs tomorrow. We gotta stick together ladies!

Hey guys =) I got in the program with 30 points. There isn't a "cutoff" but I think 27 points and above is competitive.

As for first semester, the first month or so is pretty packed. It's literally 8-5 Monday through Friday. As the semester rolls on, you can expect to be at school at least 2-3 days a week + clinicals. On the first day of school, they give you a calendar that outlines what your life will be like for the next 3 months =)

How about the Teas test Guavaturtle? How was it i heard there is basic Algebra and reading comprehension but what else is there that we should be focused on? Thanks

I remember there was simple algebra and a lot of conversions such as lb --> kg, ounces in lbs and stuff like that. I don't know if they do TEAS 4 or 5 now, but there are a lot of forums on this website that you can utilize. A lot of people take the test and come on the forums to share their experiences. You only need a 60 something to pass. I don't think ANYONE in our group failed it.

Ok my Documents now show as received on the Health Science page so thats awesome now its just review time. One small step but its movement....

Guavaturtle, I was browsing through the Cypress catalog, looking at classes we have to take and it said Nursing 190 is a pre-requisite for Nursing 192-- isn't 192 the class you take 1st semester? Did you have to take 190?

Is that the fundamentals of nursing? I have not taken it. I know that I have done all prereq classes as per the nursing department. I didn't see 190 but I see 191 which is a coreq with 192. Is that the one your talking about?

Oh, I must be losing my mind! I could have sworn yesterday when I looked at the catalog Nursing 190 (intro to nursing concepts) was a prerequisite to Nursing 192 (fundamentals) but now I just looked again and it's not ...ok.... never mind...sorry! So it looks like the 1st semester is Nursing 191, 192 and 193.

Tell me about it I have email and allnurses set to notify me when anything new comes in. Well at least all my junk emails get deleted immediatly. I know I am on pins and needles.
