Cal State East Bay Fall 2012 Hopefuls

U.S.A. California

I know it is a bit early to start talking about fall 2012, but I couldn't help myself. I am sure that my fellow hopefuls feel somewhat the same. I know it's a ways away, however, I just wanted to know who else is excited out there to actually become a nursing and not a pre-nursing student. Most of us should be almost done with pre reqs, and if that doesn't get you excited you are in the wrong game. Fall 2012 is still quite far away but I'm sure it will creep up on us soon.

SOUND OFF if you are excited to apply!!!

Im with you haha. I keep thinking about how great it would be to get into any Cal State program and what a relief it would be. Plus East Bay is in a cool location. So that would be great!

I went to an information advising session recently. The lady conducting the briefing was very kind. I can't wait to submit my application. Don't forget the university and supplemental nursing application period starts October 1st and is due Nov 30th.

Did she mention anything about the appplicant pool, competition, or waiting list?

Indeed she did. Of course the numbers are estimates, but she said they recieve approximately 500-600 applications each year. I believe they select 130 from that number (65 for each campus). She also noted that if you don't get an acceptance letter right away don't lose hope because often a fair amount of people on the alternate/wait list get in. Last year (fall 2010 applicants) she said they got to around number 60 on the alternate list. That is mainly due to most people applying to mutliple schools and getting accepted to more than one. She said those who normally get in have somewhere around a 3.7 GPA and around an 86 or so on the TEAS. You have to take into account the difficulty of the TEAS V compared to the TEAS IV. The numbers I just gave you were for those who took the TEAS IV. If you have anymore questions let me know. Take care and good luck.

Oh and also a site note: it seems to be unique to Cal State East Bay, but there is actually NO minimum TEAS score.

yay.... i am very excited and also a bit nervous .. only a week until the application period opens.. i still haven't taken the teas and im preparing for it right now, from my understanding we have till feburuary 14 to submit our teas score. i should probably be scheduling my teas test now, i believe they only take the first 2 tries, so i have to make sure im really prepared and if i dont do that well on my first try i have enough time to review more and take it again.

i was surprised to see long division and like multiplication by hand on some of the review books,i took calculus 3 semesters ago and cant believe i have forgotten how to do those by hand.

does anyone know of like any preparatory class for the teas, in bay area? also anyone wants to get together to study?

Thanks for the stats! I will be applying for Fall 2012 at EB as a back up to Sac State's program this spring. Do you know what the average was for the supplemental criteria? I have above those averages in GPA and TEAS, but I don't think I will have any of the supplemental criteria.

hey Nicole i went to the general advising two weeks ago,she said that not a lot of people have the special criteria, and only a few per year submit them and that usually everyones score is below 90.....

Hey all,

Does anybody know if there are more TEAS test dates to be posted for later this year/early next year?? I just took my TEAS test on Saturday and I didn't do so well :( I checked this website: http://testing.csueastbay.edu/nursing/nursteasinfo.php and those were the only dates I could find.

Do they only hold TEAS test in the Fall or what? AHHHH! I'm so bummed.

i think they might have more dates later on, but i wouldn't risk it just make an appointment with ati website there is a testing center in oakland and one in sacramento i believe.
