Anyone has attended Preferred College of Nursing at Van Nuys?

U.S.A. California

I am planning to go at Preferred College of Nursing at Van Nuys for their LVN program. The tuition fee is $20,500

I heard they do loans only Sallie Mae, I have a question if Sallie Mae can cover the whole $20,500?

And are the teachers there good enough? I am very scared to go to school and pay them $20k and don't get the stuff that I need to learn.

Please reply, will be great appreciate.

Thank you.

I have never attended that school; however, I think that $20K+ is very expensive for an LPN program. With $20K, I was able to pay for my BSN and 1/2 of my MSN. Are there other schools in your area that are cheaper? What made you choose this school?

Just my :twocents:

P.S. Congrats on choosing the nursing profession! Good luck!

My dad went to that school and graduated with his LVN diploma. He passed the NCLEX too. He told me the staff and his classmates were very helpful and I'm currently using his textbook to review for my NCLEX-PN exam. Positive things about this school, except that it costed an arm and a leg but the outcome is very rewarding. Hope this helped!

Hey Solidus..I remember seeing your posting a few years ago about CSU Bakersfield.....are you still in that RN program?

I wanted to tune in, I think that 20K is a whole lot to pay for an LVN program....I went to an LVN program 3 years ago and it was 1800 total for the year. Its in La Puente not sure if that is a drive for you but it was well worth it....AMAZING teachers that pushed you to be the best. I just completed my RN program and I have to say my LVN education was far superior. the name of the school is HAcienda La Puente Adult education. my class had a 100% pass rate on passing the boards the first time.

I'm actually at San Francisco State University, but yea, I did apply to CSUB and a whole bunch of other schools.

Preferred was one of the lesser expensive programs in the valley a few years back. I recommend not going to this school because they don't challenge students enough and allow many students to enroll that shouldn't, simply for the profit.
