California Board of Registered Nursing, can you do "Walk-ins"?

Published

Hi guys,

It seems like it is impossible to call the Board's phone number, it is always busy. I was wondering if anyone actually has an experience of visiting their main office located in Sacramento? I could not find any information on whether it is ok just to do a "walk-in" there, or you need to make an appointment. Please, advise... Thank you in advance!

My former supervisor renewed her license by doing a walk-in. She just walked in with no appointment. Said they were polite and helpful. BTW, I did the same with the VN board.

Thank you, caliotter3,

I have not heard anything from them since i sent them my application for licensure, and have not received the ATT,

so, I just wanted to inquire about the status of my application.

Well, if you show up at their public service window with your bright and shiny face it would be harder to set your paperwork aside. They would have to tell you something and you might get action on it right then and there. I mean, what have you got to lose? If you live close enough, I would try this, but only after you have waited a reasonable length of time. Good luck.

I am in the same boat. I have sent my application on the 18th of december and nothing. Also my check didn't clear out either. I am thinking about calling monday until I get in touch with them. By the way, when did you send your paperwork in?

i sent my application in the beginning of December, and the check was cashed about two weeks ago, so, the website says to wait for about 4-6 weeks. It has not been full 4 weeks yet, but some of my classmates already received their ATTs, that's why I am getting concerned.

I just got my ATT couple of days back and I was also going through same situation. I would get board's number busy but I kept on trying and ultimately somebody found from cashier that my check was cleared. still after this they said it might take two weeks for evaluator to act and release information but after my check clearance it took max 5 days to get ATT.

I made it a habit of calling every two days and it helped me. good luck !

Thank you, jollygirl,

I will try to do the same thing, keep calling them everyday.

It is frustrating:uhoh3:

Yes you can go in there. They have a window where you can talk to a secretary and if you're lucky you may be able to reach someone who can help you. It can take a while but its better than a phone. After calling them for months, leaving countless voicemails I was never able to reach someone about my application.

I finally drove there, it worked, but it took a while.

Yes, and they're pretty helpful. I've gone in three times in the past two months with great results.

Ok, I went there, and it worked. They indeed are very helpful. I am glad I went there. Thank you guys!

Glad it worked for you! Everyone at both Boards are pretty helpful, just a tad swamped especially with the furloughs and no overtime. (don't forget if driving there that they are both closed the first 3 Fridays of the month). When I had worked the front counter, hate to say this but it's true.......trying to find a nice way to say this.......go with a smile. The old saying, you catch more flies with honey is true. Good luck to all the test takers1
