Calhoun Community College Spring 2016

Published

Hello everyone! It's almost that time again for nursing applications to be put in for Calhoun. I haven't seen a thread created for the students that will be applying for the spring 2016 Nursing program so I decided to start one! I heard that the link will be opening up sometime in July and close sometime in August. I still have to take a TEAS test before I apply. Anyway, I'm looking forward to chatting with potential nursing applicants!!

I had 199 in the fall and didn't get accepted.

Really?? Wow that's weird especially since people with lower points than you got in. I wonder if they made a mistake with your application. If you don't mind me asking how many points do you have this time and what did you apply for?

Oh wow, that's scary, I thought people with much lower scores got in. I wonder if perhaps they look at somethings besides just the points you have?

Maybe the other parts of the TEAS-V?

That's what I was thinking as well bc I've heard that sometimes the nursing dept makes mistakes on packets, people forget to put certain things in their packets, or their GPA may not be enough to get them in. In the fall thread a couple of people have had the same points and one got in and the other didn't because of their GPA. Cody did your letter say what the cut off points were?

I thought that maybe if your packet wasn't complete or your GPA didn't meet requirements that they would just toss it out and you didn't even get a letter.

Oh I forgot about that! Yes they toss your application out if you forget something but they don't toss it out because of GPA. Minimum requirement is 2.5 but someone had 3.0 or something and the other person had a 3.5 and they picked the person with the 3.5. So when it comes down to it if they have 2 people with the same points and one has a pretty low GPA they will go with the person with the higher GPA. That's why they say it's competitive.

Oh I seeee. Well that makes sense.

One week down, 3-5 more weeks (hopefully less than 5) to go!!! :nailbiting:

So on the nursing page it says that they will calculate your GPA from your last 24 credit hours. Is that going to change your gpa in their eyes?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking but by what it says on the website they are saying they are only using your most recent 24 credit hrs. If they use my most recent 24 credit hrs my GPA will be 3.87. Say if you took 12 credit hrs last semester and you took 12 credit hrs the semester before that that is what they will use to calculate your GPA instead of a cumulative GPA.

Okay thats what I was asking lol. Sorry I worded it all crazy. Lol
