We've got several months until application time opens for Fall 2015. I assume it'll open sometime in May, maybe April if we're lucky! Does anyone already have it on their brain like I do Hoping to make it in the program for Fall 2015 & would love to chat with some other folks that have ants in their pants too!
I will be working full time while doing the PTE program as well. I think the FB page for support is a good idea. Has anyone been reading the posts on the Calhoun Mentors page about the end-of-semester HESI exams? It sounds like these weed out students that can't make the benchmark or it brings their semester average down too low to continue on in the program. Can anyone offer any insight into this issue as I do not know anyone currently in the program? One post said that one exam took out a big chunk of their class.
Hey Richard!
I have been talking with a current second semester PTE student and she has been SO helpful. She did say the HESI exams are crazy but she also said it was doable. She said her class is down to about 40 out of 50 students now due to grades, finances etc. I was glad to hear it wasnt all grades to be honest. That mentors page also gives VERY helpful hints about how to best prepare yourself for the HESI. The young lady I spoke to also gave me her number and told me to text her if I needed anything or had any questions. She said she wished she had someone to give her insight in the beginning. Oh she also said not to allow Calhoun or the teachers to discourage you BC there will come a time that we will question why we got ourselves into this lol. She said it will be rough but when you get confirmation from a patient during clinical or a pat on the back from a nurse you work under during clinicals it makes it all worth it. I swear she had me feeling like The Little Engine That Could after we spoke! THIS is what I mean by how we have to constantly encouage one another!!! Let's be nurses guys!

I think that's a great idea Brandi! I'm glad to know others will be working as well as attending school. I know it's gonna be a struggle but in the end all will pay off. I'm anxious to know our school schedule so we can also figure out our work schedules! Looks like it's time to make a facebook page to join all these great nursing groups y'all!
