Hi all,

I am new to the forum and finding my way about. I have moved from the Uk and now live in Calgary.. over the past 10 months or more I have been watching intently the situation with RN jobs in Calgary.

I have also read the last post which was answered by Janfrn.. I have not even begun to start filling in the CARNA regsistration as I dont think there is much point as the moment??

CARNA have said that they are in no rush to be registering anyone and it will take over 6 months:uhoh3:

I may have to look at another profession..( I obviously dont want to I have been Nursing for 12 years qualified)

I do wonder how with a growing city the current staff obviously keeping the Nursing field 'alive' are managing with such cut backs and skeleton staff.. this is all speculation as I dont know how morale is...

My dilemma is .. do I look positively on continuing my career in Calgary at some point.. or do I say.. no point as even new graduate nurses cant get jobs in their home city???

Any advice would be gratefully received

Something to think about though is work and employment experience, there may be a time frame and if out of this time frame you may have to do some sort of refresher course. I know here in NS they take the last 5 years into account

I'm Canadian, currently in living and working in the US as a new LPN. I'll be going on to get RN and BSN here. I'm crossing my fingers that the nursing situation in Alberta turns around in the next 5 years. I want to return to Alberta to work as a nurse. All of my family is in Alberta, including my children.

OMG! What a sacrifice you appear to have made.. I take it your children are not dependant?? You must miss them so? Yes I agree I do hope to that the situation here ( Alberta) improves as I love my professsion and would feel pretty empty without practicing.. Good luck to you x
