I aplied to many Cal State Schools as a first time freshman, such as, Somona,SanMarcos, Fullerton and Los Angeles. I did not check Pre-nursing as my major though. Every single one was impacted and i knew i wouldn't have gotten in if I had checked. My question is, Can I still take the pre-requisites once i get there in my first semester? will they all be filled? which college would be the best to get my RN, or at least the most prerequisites done so i could apply to other nursing schools? thanks in advance!

I dont know about the other schools but at my school CSU East Bay. Pre-nursing is like an undeclared major. But once you get in you can always change it.

]I wasn't a nursing major at CSU Fullerton, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to take your nursing prerequisites there. And you should be fine as far as classes goes - freshmen have priority registration so the 101 courses shouldn't be a problem.

yea, you can take prereqs your first sem. watch out though, most classes will be full because of budget cuts. any college with a nursing school will do. all CSUs are accredited. it would be to your advantage to start at a community college.

I applied for the spring 2010 class. That's why I was earlier to be accepted. Good luck . You are the first application pool to ever go through the interview process. I think it was my idea for them to start one.
my overall prereq GPA is a 3.82, math/sci prrereq GPA is a 3.9 TEAS was a flat 80. volunteer experience in health care and community service and foreign langauge proficiency. also residency, though I do not live in the the Bakersfield service area. I live in Nor Cal, but CSUB was my #1 choice since their program is so short and I get out of college earlier.
My rank for my pool was 12/65. there were 69 people who applied in my time, that's because during that time, the CSU budget cuts were in effect, which closed CSUB and other CSUs off earlier. I applied a few days earlier before they closed off. usually, there are 200-250+ applicants, but ours was 65+; therefore, it was not so fierce, but still competitive.
you won't receive any notice yet until later on. What are your stats?

Ahhh...yeah.. The budget cut ****** me off, I was 7 months pregnant during the Summer of 2009, and I rushed finishing my prereqs despite my condition. I was taking both Organic Chem and Microbiology trying to finish them off so I'll be competitive in Spring 2010, coz @ the time, CSUB give more points to people who finish more prereqs. So I did, stressin out along with my hormones kicking in randomly. I had the worst summer EVER!. THEN I found out when I was ready to apply for Spring, that they are no longer accepting students... I was so ****** I started applying to other states all the way to the University of Alabama!. haha! I wasn't thinking tho.. I forgot I was pregnant and I cant really move out now... so I got over it and now I applied this fall. My first choice is also Bakersfield. Same reason, 16 months. Im so jealous.. I should have applied long time ago, then I could've gotten in. Im in... sorta the same stat as you.. 3.81 in prereq, 3.7 over all. But I got 78 on TEAS =D.. I plan to take it again tho.. aiming @ the 90s... *fingers crossed.. I also have health exp, 2nd lang. and volunteer work. That reminds me.. did they have you taken the TOEFL test since you have a second language?.. or did you just recently learn your lang through some highschool? what language btw.
I hope I get the disadvantage points tho.. Im a single mother, stuck in my parents house. lol.. Im sooooo praying I get in to CSUB!!! I wanna finish as soon as possible..sighhh.. Im so mad at the budget cut right now.. grrrrrrrrr ..
let me know how the classes go! and how you like the clinical... =D Good luck to you!

Yeah hey, anytime, no problem. Thanks too. I hope you get in CSUB as well, which I highly think you'll get in with that status, but who knows. I'll let you know how the classes go too.
I didn't take the TOELF exam. I am not an international student or a new student to English, but I did help some people with ESL because I was an English tutor for vocabulary and grammar.
Since I'm a mixed-multiethnic dude, I speak English and 2 Philippine languages with some Spanish that form what I can understand from my old family. I'm trying to minor in Spanish also with my nursing major at CSUB. I went to Chinese school for some time but quit, so I don't know anymore, and I took French in high school, if that's what you're asking. Philology interests me a lot, so fluency in another language for me is a must.

Cool! I plan to minor in Philosophy. I do speak Tagalog fluently =D, and speak Ilocano as well.. There's only one language in the Philippines tho, you probably meant "and one of the dialects". I really hope I get in, I like to think I'm pretty competitive, however, because of the budget cut, and the fact that a lot of students couldn't apply in spring, then surely, the competition this fall is double. Sigh... btw, does CSUB require interviews? if so, please tell me how yours went! =D
