Someone is telling me that some schools buy cadivas. It doesn't matter wether they are left to science or not. Isn't that illegal? I know where I live you only get a cadiva if they donated their body to science. So then this guy says they give the bodies that belong to immigrants to the schools. I find this hard to believe. Please advise me on what you know about this issue
Just wanted to give another recommendation for "Stiff: The Curious Lives of Cadavers." Unfortunately, I didn't have the hardcover, so no way for me to cover what I was reading! I enjoyed it all the same.
I start dissecting my poor cat next lab session. I named him "P.B." aka Poor Bast..well, you get the idea.
Is it so wrong that I would rather work with a cadaver a MILLION times over?

No . . . in a way that was surprising to me, cadavers are easier to work with than animals.
I too wish you could work with cadavers. Dissection theatre was great.
After I finished Anatomy, I applied to work in the anatomy lab as a proctor. We set up the bone tests - great for review. We monitored the dissection theatre. The most moving thing was we got to take the cadavers (all the dissected parts were kept) to the funeral home for cremation. It was done with upmost respect.

I too once posted in another thread and stevielynn posted after me, when she got done with her post, I felt as though I had been scolded. I did not post for a long time after that. Maybe I took what she posted the wrong way, but that was a long time ago. It's water under the bridge now. As far as spelling errors go, misspelled words are one of my biggest pet peeves, however, if I made a comment about every misspelled word I read, I would never stop posting! Besides, I know that I do not always spell correctly, (although I do try.) So I feel I shouldn't say anything about anyone else.
I too am going to read the book mentioned on this thread. STIFF. sounds like a good book, so I will go to my local library and see if I can find it.
On a positive note, JennK, come back and read from the many threads here, a lot can be learned from the experienced nurses who post here. I enjoy this site very much, and check to see whats new everyday.

Wow again. I am truly sorry if you were ever offended by something I wrote - please pm me if it ever happens again and let me know when I'm offbase. I'm open to constructive criticism :) And don't let someone's post make you stop posting - usually these problems are misunderstandings or someone didn't realize how what they wrote "sounded". It is hard online without being able to see people . . .
I can see I'm getting a reputation here . . . . . .

Like I said, water under the bridge. And in my opinion, no you don't have a "reputation." I read many of your posts after that one, and just began to see that you are one of the "experienced nurses" that I was talking about.

That is fine about your misspelling of the word, heck I can't spell myself. What we were all talking about was that the word cadavers was so grossly misspelled that we did not no what the thread was about. So there was a joke made---cadiva/Godiva.
As far as you not posting on your other threads.....Someone had made the comment that Steph and begalli had "scared you off" by making the jokes about chocolate. I was merely pointing out that you posted very infrequently even in threads that you had started and that I doubted that they had scared you off. Sorry, this was not meant as a slam to you for not following up with a post.
