oh, and i forgot to mention the member and testicles in a small metal dish. the teacher passed that around, and the member had been disected in half the long way, boy that made the guys cring.......the female was just a torso, so you could check out the uterus and the bladder, and how they lay inside the human body. buckets of arms.......this post is getting gross. i tried to treat all the parts with respect because i thank all the people who donated their bodies. don't think i could do it. peppermint oil under the nose helped with the smell. i used it when we went to long term care also.......

Peppermint oil or oil of wintergreen. That's all I'm going to say, because I have this sick feeling that you're posting this question not because you have a genuine educational interest but because you have some sort of prurient interest.

Prove me wrong. Tell us what kind of programme you're in (pre-nursing, pre-med, associate's degree nursing, bachelor's degree nursing) instead of just vague comments like "community college". I don't know of any community college programmes that are well-funded enough to offer human cadavers for dissection to non-health sciences students. Spell "cadaver" correctly. Then I'll tell you all about cadaver dissection and study tips.

Otherwise, I'm chalking you up in my "creepy sicko" book and moving on. :rolleyes:

ill be a freshmen in college this summer and will be taking a human anatomy & psysiology course and wanted a few tips on the cadavers.... you may not know of any community college that has cadavers but i do and i will be attending one soon. i was surprised to find out myself... i have intrest in being an RN in the future but id like to overcome my fear... i like to know how others exp. with cadavers were like.... *shrugs* i guess for starters there are always questions/concerns and etc...but if you still think that im posting because im a sick person who is intrested in something else then... *shurgs* id have to say.. if you feel that way about me... thats fine.., thats ur opinion on what you think my posts meant... i accept whats been said...

maybe some of you do know where im coming from... for those who doesnt... well.. *shrugs* sometimes people just dont understand you.. i guess...

Wow. Our community college doesn't have cadavers for A&P. I've got mixed emotions about that...on one hand, I'd like to see the "real mccoy", but on the other hand...I know they stink worse than the fetal pig that I got to dissect in HS biology years ago!

The university where I got my bachelor degree (non-nursing) had cadavers for their Anatomy courses. But then, there was a medical school on campus as well. Lots of folks donate their bodies to that school, which is great for the students.

One of my best friends in college was a TA for one of the anatomy labs & she didn't have any problems with working with cadavers. She said very few people did have trouble, most folks were freaked out before the class even started, but once they got to working on them, it wasn't that big of a deal. :cool:
