CAC CNA program

Published

Has anyone completed the CNA program through CAC? I am looking at the FRI/SAT class at the Superstition Mt campus. I would like to know the class hours, where you completed your clinicals, and how long it took to complete the course? Any info appreciated.

Thanks!:D

Hi there!

I'm looking to possibly moving to Arizona and I'm interested in the CNA programs offered there for my husband. Where is CAC located? Is there a CAC website?

I'm also looking for LPN programs in Arizona, preferably near Phoenix. Does anyone know of good LPN programs? Thanks! :)

CAC (Central AZ College) is in Coolidge.

As far as LPN programs.....Maricopa Skills Center and Glendale Community College are in the Phoenix.

hi chihmom8,

i just finished up my cna course at rsaa and have state boards tomorrow morning! i am a bit stressed and was looking for any advice you could offer. many students are confused at how things will be run tomorrow...like we practiced without water for peri-care and etc...do they expect you to use water, actually wear gloves...etc. or just say you would put on gloves?? anything you can offer would be great!! thanks!

hi! good luck tomorrow. i finished the evening course in february. i know how stressful the day before boards can be! get there early so you can get done quicker. otherwise you will sit there and sit there and sit there and the more you sit, the more you start to worry and stress. at least that is what happened to me. we were supposed to be there at 8am and i got there about 7:50 and was the 2nd to the last person to get there. so, i had to wait nearly 4 hours to finally take my turn. i wasn't all that nervous when i got there, but by the time i was up i was a wreck!:crying2:

just go over the yellow "bible" so you know it inside and out. you want to make sure you know the highlighted/bold steps the most because you will not pass if you miss one of those.

for the class final we had to do everything like it was real (real water, put on gloves, raise and lower bed, etc).

however, for the state board, i just asked the rn if she wanted me to get water, put on gloves etc, or just verbalize. she wanted me to just verbalize. don't be afraid of the rn's!!! depending on the skill, before you start just ask them how they want you to work a certain step and they will tell you (ie do you want me to put on real gloves, use real water, etc.)

for the handwashing, they will try and trick you to use your hands after you wash, so be careful and aware! for example, she asked my friend (after she had washed her hands) to turn on the light. for me, she shut the door behind us. there just may be little things like that. another example, i had feeding a patient. i went to feed the "patient" and she turned on her side, so i had to show propert technique to turn her on her back to proceed with feeding. again, they will throw little things in to throw you off, but nothing major.

i got peri-care for both the class final and state board...no one else at all in my group or the group before got peri-care, just me. everyone else got like range of motion, moving from bed to chair/chair to bed, etc. all the easy ones. only 1 person got bed making.

just remember, you know this stuff, you practiced in clinicals and you can do it! just study that bible and you will do great!

did you go in and practice skills and do the practice tests? if so, you will be fine. the practice tests were way harder than the actual test.

anyway, that is all i can think of right now. again, good luck! you will do great!:yeah:

I'm signed up for the August day class. You can sign up and pay over the phone or by email, so if you want to get signed up you might want to do it now before the class fills up. If you get into the day class, let me know. I'd love a study buddy! :specs:

Chihmom8 you rock! Thank you so much for your detailed and kind response! Those tips for handwashing, etc. will be helpful, I am sure! I know the RN's are wanting you to pass, but they are still intimidating! I did go in once and did some practice exams during clinicals, I aced the class...but, it wasn't as stressful as this waiting to take the boards! I probably won't sleep well! haha.

I am supposed to be there around 8 and I am now going to leave my house by 7! I want to go first! Do they allow you to do skills first or do you have to take written first? I want to do skills and get it over with! I am not worried about the written so much.

For our class final, we didn't have to do the skills with real stuff...just pretend. I got occupied bed and did it pretty quickly...I forgot to lower the bed and didn't keep my resident's heiny covered the whole time :) oops.

Anyhow, I am pretty much ready, just need to destress a bit tonight and not drink too much coffee in the AM!

Thanks again! I will post and let ya know how it went!

You are welcome!

Whoever gets there first gets to choose whether they do skills or written first. It is basically first come, first serve. So, the sooner you get there the better. At least that is how they did it during my session.

Again, you know this stuff, try not to stress out too much, I know it is hard not to though. If you had bed making for the final, you will be fine. I think that is the hardest one, just because there are so many flippin' steps. That was the one I was praying I wouldn't get! LOL!

Haha...I jinxed myself on the occupied bed. My classmates got easy things like fluid intake and TPR...I jokingly said, "Watch me get occupied bed becuz it takes me 1/2 an hour to do it!" Then...what did I get? Ha! So, if I keep telling myself please give me Peri care...maybe I actually won't get it!

I am going to shoot for 730...I want to get there, hopefully everyone else is scared to death more than me and will let me just go first! :)

Well, all is well in new CNA land :)

I was so nervous, but I went in super early and got to go 2nd for skills. I drew handwashing (of course), feeding dependent resident, antiembolic stockings, dressing resident with left weaker side and fluid intake. I was so stressed out afterward that I took a 4 hour nap. I was getting really ansy today waiting for results...I finally called D&S at noon and got my results. I got a 94% written and 100% skills! I am so relieved! RSAA was a really good experience overall, I am totally satisfied (in case anyone is reading this for a review). Thanks to chihmom for all the advice!

Just wanted to be the first to say congratulations.

It seems RSAA is a good recommendation, so I will definitely be signing up with them hopefully for the August 4th day class.

Congrats again.
