hi everyone! i'm newby here! i have a question, i'm here in WA and planning to take my NCLEX in CA 'cause i found out they have less requirements than here (CGFNs/CES and TOFL) i already have my local license in my country, and my SSN. would you advise me to apply in CA rather here in WA. and apply for "transfer" of my license here in WA if i passed the nclex. at the same time i've already paid CGFNS $300+ for the application which i think a wrong move to start on...i'm too confuse right now :uhoh3:... any help is much appreciated!:redbeathe

In the USA all NCLEX tests are the same so it doesn't matter what state you test with, it will be the same test. A warning is that after you acquire a license with a state, even if you are not using it, it would not be wise to let it lapse because it shows up when other future employers do a check and they take that as a negative mark. Another thing is that you can not "transfer" a license you can only apply for an additional license in another state. The good news is you can attain as many licensures as you wish. Good luck!

It sounds like you are an internationally educated nurse, I believe even for endorsement of a license you may still have to meet the same board requirements to endorse a CA license to WA. Best option is to check with the BON before applying for a CA license only to find out that you still have to do the CES/CFGNS/TOEFL to endorse back to WA.

Really??? i can get license in different state? thanks for the information. i don't know that!

yes, im internationally educated nurse. that's the thing that bothers me. i think i should ask WA BON first before applying for CA. thank you so much!:yeah:

Hi manorm,

Too bad that you had no one to give you advise on this prior to paying $300 for CGFNS to evaluate your credentials.

You can still apply for CA.BON you will have to start from scratch again, getting your school from Phil. to send your transcripts to CA.BON once that's done they will send you a letter to take the NCLEX RN exam then after you pass the NCLEX RN exam then you can endorse your CA. RN license to WA. ( this is what I did) I am licensed in California and Wa. If you have any more questions, you can private message me and I can help you out. Good luck.

Hi manorm, i also have the same problem as you but my state is in VA, which also have the same requirements in WA, the CGFNS, TOEFL, etc and my plan is just to apply in CA BON for nclex and have it endorse later on.. Do you have any progress yet? :)

Hi EDSH_rn, when you endorse from CA to WA, they didnt ask for the CGFNS anymore and TOEFL? :) just your license in CA? hoping for your reply . Thanks

im also having the same problem .. Im in NJ and I'm planning to take the exam for CA since there is fewer requirements. .. I hope it's do-able

Hi RetiredAt21,

Did you graduate in P.I? I have been researching on the best thing to do like forever, and you know what, come what may, haha:uhoh3: I've decided to continue my application in california and we'll see from there. But i just wanna know ofcourse to know other thoughts on this too, or maybe they tried it already and didn't have a hard time endorsing :) well all i can say is Good Luck to us!
