Filipino Nurses' Take on Nursing Informatics
I think Healthcare/hospitals in the philippines will stick with what they have now because implementing thses kinds of systems (i.e: EPIC,CERNER ,Centricity,McKesson, etc) costs millions of dollars for hospitals. So stick to the basics.

Will my nursing degree carry over to the states?
Continue your BSN program there in the Philippines, then once you pass the NCLEX RN exam then you can go back to HI or relocate to other States. The problem here in the USA right now is that there are oversaturation of nurses that hospitals are very "picky" now, they prefer US grads and have 2-3 years acute care experience ( if you want to get in the hospitals) than for us foreign grads but if you want , you can always find a job at Skilled Nursing Facilites and get your acute experience there. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Graduated 12 years ago, never passed the NCLEX - Advise to get back into the field
The NCLEX RN exam has changed a lot since you last took it, they change the exam every 3 years, and 2011 is the 3 year mark! I would recommend attending a live review class such as excell nursing review ( you can research them online) this class will help you, I passed the nclex rn exam because I attended this class. It is also a good idea that you are going to take a refresher course once you are an RN since you cannot take the RN refresher course not unless you have the license, it's also better to take a live refresher course program because they incorporate clinicals too rather than online. Good Luck.:)

Has anyone taken the Lifesavers Nursing Review Seminars for the NCLEX?
I have never heard of them before but upon reading the previous post it's expensive for a 3 day course $415 and that was 2-3 years ago?!!! I took the Kaplan review which was also very expensive they did not teach you the Clinical nursing aspect which NCLEX RN exams are about. I waisted my money on Kaplan I did however passed the NCLEX RN with the help of Excell nursing review ( you can google them) very high passing rate and it's a 10 day review class ( 80 hours). I think one of the class starts this mid march 2011 in California, they also have classes in IL. ( that's where there corporate office is),and class in Las Vegas I think this April 2011. You will get your moneys worth ( every penny), and the instructors are very supportive.Good Luck

Obtaining an rn license to the philippines
Once you passed the NLE You do not have to take the NLE again. You already have a license in the Philippines as an RN but lapsed, I think you will just have to renew it again. Check out the PRC website to see what the requirements are. Hope this helps. Good luck!

CA or WA NCLEX please help!
Hi manorm, Too bad that you had no one to give you advise on this prior to paying $300 for CGFNS to evaluate your credentials. You can still apply for CA.BON you will have to start from scratch again, getting your school from Phil. to send your transcripts to CA.BON once that's done they will send you a letter to take the NCLEX RN exam then after you pass the NCLEX RN exam then you can endorse your CA. RN license to WA. ( this is what I did) I am licensed in California and Wa. If you have any more questions, you can private message me and I can help you out. Good luck.

Working in U.S. as RN
So are you just volunteering you time ( no pay?) or are you employed as a new grad? The new grad preceptorship program is about 6-8 weeks, so you are good if after 2 months you think you are not ready to be on your own don't be afraid to tell your preceptor they may give you a couple more weeks to orient? Don't be afraid to ask questions, always ask questions if you are uncertain. Good luck.

hubby is from Phil. & wanted to apply NCLEX
Hi Kewlnurse2b, Will you eventually sponsor your hubby to be an Immigrant here in the USA? If so, then he can wait until he get his SSN to apply to take the NCLEX-RN exam? I read from a post here that New Mexico BON may not require SSN? You can check their site? Good Luck..:)

how to apply nclex in washington state for foreign RN
The easiest way to get your RN license is to apply via California Board of Nursing they do not require CGFNS once you get all your requirements approved by CA.BON then you can take the nclex RN exam once you passed you can endorse your license to WA. But take note CA. will not release your RN license if you do not have a social security #. Good Luck

How often do your guys need to renew your RN/LPN license?
Check the wa. State dept of health website. It will give all the info you need. The new rule for renewals ,etc.
-
What does this mean?
You need to check your board of nursing website and go to the verification of license. Since you recently took the exam the result will not be in your board of nursing until next week. For example California board of nursing update their site every 3 days. Good luck.:)

Experienced RN Relocating to WA this fall
Hi there, Where are you planning in living in WA. State? Will it be in Seattle ,Tacoma or the suburbs? You will easily get hired on since you have years of experience in acute rehab. There is an Acute Rehab in Everett at Bethany of the Northwest/Transitional Care Unit located at Providence Hospital Pacific Campus. Good Luck.
