A California nursing license is only valid in the state of California. You cannot legally work using a California license in any other state.

If you would like to work in another state, you will need to obtain a nursing license by endorsement from that particular state's board of nursing.

Is it hard to get an endorsement? what would they look for to let me do that? thanks so much!

Each state has its own board of nursing (e.g. the Nevada Board of Nursing, the Florida Board of Nursing, etc). Moreover, each state board of nursing has its own website.

To obtain a nursing license by endorsement in the state where you want to work, you may wish to visit that state board of nursing's website and read about what you'll need to do to obtain licensure by endorsement. Usually you will need to complete an application, submit the requested fees, submit a fingerprint card, and so forth.

Specializes in L&D, OBED, NICU, Lactation.

Getting a verification from California BRN is what takes the longest. It can take 3-6 weeks to get verified because they do not use the Nursys electronic system. They also charge you $60 to do it.
